"One moment and I know: everything is worth it."

This picture shows a snopshot from this morning on my way to work. While the angels in heaven were baking their Christmas cookies and the ducks were swimming in the Dove-Elbe below.

I haven't posted much in the last month, primarily because I was busy with other thing like finding a new job or moving to the "country side".

Even though it was quite a change from one of the best neighbourhoods in Hamburg, Ottensen to some kind of island build upon some dikes, called Reitbrook. 95% of the people living in Hamburg I am telling about Reitbrook never heard about it. But even though I don't have a great coffee shop or super market next door and have to commute much longer to work, I know during such a moment: Everything was worth it.

Looking forward to another new season in the upcoming darker and colder months with at my side ❤️

"Stop normalizing toxicity"

I thought about the first post for 2025 and how I would wish you a great start for this upcoming year and bla bla bla, but decided differently.

After being back in Germany for roughly 14 days, I realized there is a high amount of hate around here and I think it's the same in many countries. And I am wondering, is it really this bad or is my Instagram and Threads algorithm just this fu**ed up?!

This is what I will do to cope with that for 2025 and I wish you can do the same:

Chill down a bit, don't get crazy about every little thing that I read and hear about. "Lass mal fünfe grade sein". And especially get off the digital displays and away from these toxic social media bubbles.

Get out there, meet real people, talk to real people and look them in their eyes. Spread some love and realise we are just the same human being.

Therefore I will start this year with a repost from 2016, when I travelled through Myanmar with my buddy and was lucky to meet one of the friendliest and deeply-loving people I met so far.

Nothing better than sharing a hot tea with Zigri!

I arrived at the camp of Mt Rinjani around 1,5h before my guide and the resr of the group and didn't know were to seek shelter. As it was raining a lot with heavy wind, I justed wanted to be somewhere dry. I found Zigri's shop at Camp 2 and he didn't hesitate to share his dry square with me.

We talked a bit as he knew just a few words in english. But I could feel that there was a deeper understanding and vibing  without any words needed.

Thank you for the warm tea and ginger coffee - even though the caffeine probably killed my already short amount of sleep. You saved my ass and added great memories!

Red powder turns into white sand. Orange sunsets turn into bright sunrises. Bushland turns into rainforest. Rough coast turns into lagoon beaches. Remote places turn into crowded spots. The people are still great, the hair is still growing and the posing has always room for improvement.

No way for comparison, but still hard to realise we crossed Australia via the north in the last 6 months and 20.000 km more on the odo.

Looking forward to the next few weeks around Sydney.

Even on a gray day, the iconic Byron Bay Lighthouse stands tall, as a beacon of beauty. It's a reminder that every moment has its charm, even when the weather isn’t perfect.  Exploring the coast around Byron Bay and it's surfspots has been fun. Byron amused me more than I expected it would.

I missed that kind of beach view.

At the moment we are staying close to Gympie, not for from the popular beach town Noosa. Having some decent point breaks around Noosa Head of course the area is popular amongst the surfer aswell. And I had to realise that I missed this iconic look when a surfer is coming out of the water, with the board under the arm and a big smile on the face.

I have been to Noosa Heads last sunday being the last day of holidays as well. Even though this picture looks not very busy, it was totally crowded in the water, with 60+ surfers just at tea tree bay.
With about 80% Longboarders and not to many sets coming in I knew I would enjoy the show more by just watching inside the lineup and not surfing too much 😅

During our visit to the Whitsunday Islands and Whitehaven Beach in particular I tried to look at the not so popular spots. Especially the view from the lookout over the Whitehaven Beach is one if Australia's most iconics shots.

The weather didn't play the perfect part on that but we were surprised with dramatic clouds and a windy mix of sun and shadows.

In addition we could see those rays roaming around in some flat areas, making up for a great contrast on the picture perfect white sand.

Back to the roots with Alan.

Our neighbour in Mt Isa and always happy for a chat.
Usually only out for his smoke if not watching Sports or his footy in his caravan. He also has a lot of plants that he cares for thoroughly.
He is 82 and living now at the caravan park as a permanent resident since 5 years. "After this comes only the graveyard"

Back to the roots and back to a portrait with Alan. Thanks!
