"Die Sonne"

Ein "Feuerball" befindet sich am verdunkelten Nachthimmel dort wo eigentlich die Sonne stehen müsste! Die totale Sonnenfinsternis hat uns auf dramatische Weise die Bedeutung der Sonne für uns Menschen und die gesamte Erde gezeigt. Aus diesem Grund wollte ich einmal genauer die Sonne fotografieren. Astroshop, Europas führender Fachhändler für astronomische Geräte hat mich bei diesem Projekt unterstützt. Dazu nutzte ich eine monochromatische CMOS Kamera mit quadratischen Sensor sowie ein spezielles H-Alpha Sonnenteleskop welches nur Sonnenlicht mit einer spektralen Bandbreite von nur 0.5nm passieren lässt. Dadurch erscheint die Sonne nicht mehr als "weißer Ball" und leuchtende Protuberanzen am Sonnenrand, dunkle Filamente auf der Oberfläche und aktive Regionen mit Flares werden sichtbar und zeigen die gewaltigen Vorgänge in der Sonnenchromosphäre. So lässt sich die Sonne in einer beeindruckenden Detailfülle und ständigen Veränderung fotografieren. Als ich meine ersten Daten aufgenommen und bearbeitet hatte bin ich sprichwörtlich vom Stuhl gefallen. Ich bin begeistert und absolut fasziniert von der für mich völlig neuen Sichtweise auf den bedeutendsten Himmelskörper in unseren Sonnensystem. Ich bin gespannt was ich in Zukunft noch so alles auf und vor der Sonne einfangen kann.

The solar eclipse was a breathtaking experience. The planning, organization, and ex*****on were simply insane. When the moment finally arrived, everything went chaotically differently than planned. Clouds blocking the totality, boat masts in front of our shot, and a room without air conditioning at 36°C. Wonderful. Everyone involved did their best. Thanks to the team for this awesome project.

The Spitzkoppe area is one of my favorite areas in Namibia. I love spending time at the "Matterhorn" of Namibia and inside the rock arch not far away.

It's unusual to see clouds in the Namib-Naukluft Desert. Time to unpack the wide-angle lens to capture the famous trees of the Deadvlei along with the cloud formations.

As night falls over the Garub House in Namibia, the desert becomes calm and peaceful. The silence is broken only by the gentle breeze and what feels like a million trucks driving by! Above, the sky comes alive with countless stars, shining brightly in the clear desert air. The house stands beneath the Milky Way, offering a perfect place to experience the magic of the Namib Desert at night. The area is known for its exceptionally dark skies, making it an unforgettable destination for stargazing.
