Senja rewards patience.

I visited four times — always in autumn. Broader and wilder than the Lofoten, with a different quality of light and far fewer people on the paths. The 21 locations in the Senja chapter took the longest to write.

There’s a car park in Hamnøy that I’ve visited more times than I can count. It’s usually the first stop on my workshops — and not just because the location is exceptional.

Standing there, watching how people set up, where they point the camera, whether they move or stay fixed — it tells me almost everything I need to know about how to support them for the rest of the week.

Hamnøy is Spot 07 in the Moskenesøya chapter. The cover photograph was taken a few metres away.

Some locations you return to because they keep surprising you. This is one of them.
