🦭 The most unique part about my family’s home in Uruguay 🇺🇾
Punta del Este is a flashy, fast-growing city full of luxury and urban lifestyle amenities. But just one hour by boat lies Isla de Lobos — home to the second-largest sea lion colony in the world.
Once the site of seal-hunting operations, the island is now a protected area where sea lions have reclaimed their territory under the watch of dedicated rangers. The good news: divers and snorkelers can visit (weather permitting). The even better news: very few people do. Which makes this place feel like a little slice of heaven on Earth for an ocean enthusiast like me.

🎬 2025 is a wrap. It was fun, a lot of learning and hard work, but the ocean is worth it 🌊. Happy New Year and thank you for all your support. More to come in 2026 - won’t hesitate 💪.

🐟 Best of Køge Bugt Stone Reefs 2025 🎉
It has been a tremendous pleasure to photograph the work carried out by the organisation , which establishes stone reefs in Køge Bay, leading out to the Øresund Strait between Denmark and Sweden.
The images are used both to document the ecological development on the reefs and in the educational outreach the organisation provides to schools, institutions, and community groups around Køge Bay.
The absolute highlight of my year – and without doubt my best dive – was on chairman ’s birthday, when I visited the newly reconstructed Juels Reef and encountered several cod that allowed me to come incredibly close.
Allan founded the organisation with the hope of recreating habitats for cod in the bay that had been almost completely stripped of stones. For over a century, large parts of the Danish seafloor were cleared of natural stones through stone fishing, a practice in which boulders were harvested for construction. This left many coastal habitats barren and contributed significantly to the decline of several species.
Today, cod in the region are severely threatened. The International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES) recommends zero targeted fishing, yet cod continue to be legally landed as bycatch, adding further pressure to an already vulnerable population.
Cod are a keystone species in Øresund; their abundance indicates the health of the marine ecosystem. Restoring stone reefs provides essential shelter and feeding opportunities — all crucial steps toward helping the species recover.

Ghostnet impressions – while many are remnants of the past, new nets are added to the oceans every year. Prevention, accountability, and a salvage strategy are essential at the political level — and my friends at are actively pushing for that change. But we can all raise our voices and share this story.
For many, this is a hidden crisis — hard to prioritize in a world overwhelmed by war, climate anxiety, and constant bad news. But there’s a war happening beneath the surface too. One we’ve collectively caused, and one we must confront. If we don’t revive the ocean, it will eventually suffocate us — and the issues that currently occupy our minds will no longer matter.
