It’s that time of the year, and we have something really nice for everyone getting a lens from us in December — a beautiful handmade original lens pouch 🥳

These are not produced by slave labor in China! When one of our good customers asked us if we could help find work for his friend, a refugee from Ukraine who is a professional tailor we decided to produce 100 lens pouches in different sizes. She just sent them to us from Latvia where she is now living with some relatives, and they are very niiiice 🤩 But hurry, first come first serve.

Meet Stan, the newest member of the OOMC family, and a strong addition to our ever so busy repair team.

Like our other repair guy, Henrik, Stan loves digital Fuji cameras - and everything analog, from his old Leica M2 til Linhof 13x18 large format. Stan is very experienced when it comes to adjusting analog shutters, old Eastern European film cameras, and large format stuff. Stan masters 3D-printing, so he is also producing spare parts for us (and the old cameras which need them) and he has music taste almost as good as our Managing Dictator.

(Nerdy info: Portrait by Stan's wife, Nanna, was shot ultimo October 2022 on a Leica M2 with the Zeiss 50mm f2.0 Planar - on the new Cinestill 400D film).

Like everyone else, we are horrified by the situation in Ukraine. Natalie has Ukrainian roots (her grandparents migrated to Canada from Ukraine after the Second World War), and our hearts are with the people of Ukraine fighting for their land, their families and freedom. The “Photosynthesis” book we released a couple of years ago is almost sold out, but we have decided to create a special / Photosynthesis installation where all proceeds will go to humanitarian aid in Ukraine — via the International Committee of the Red Cross. We chose a camera manufactured in the now war torn city of Kharkiv and planted it with beautiful yellow and blue flowers that grow wild in the woodlands and are planted in gardens across Ukraine. Photosynthesis No. 51 Scilla siberica x Fed-2 x Crocus flavus The FED-2 is 35mm film rangefinder camera made by FED in Kharkiv, Ukraine. It was in production between 1955-1970. It uses Leica Thread Mount lenses, weighs 586 grammes, and there are 12 types and 17 sub-types of the camera manufactured in a total quantity of 1.632.600 units.

The bright blue flowers of Scilla siberica, the Siberian squill, can be found blanketing the grounds of woodlands in the early spring in Ukraine, southwestern Russia, the Caucasus and Turkey, and is a popular garden plant elsewhere in Europe and North America. Crocus flavus, yellow crocus, is a sure sign of spring. It’s cultivars are highly planted in gardens throughout Europe and North America, and it can be found growing wild on mountain slopes in Greece, former Yugoslavia, Romania and northwestern Turkey.
