Not every family session belongs in a park.

This one happened at Reffen — shipping containers, painted walls, street food, and three kids who did not stand still for a single frame. That turned out to be the point.

I don't ask families to pose much. I pick somewhere you'd actually go on a Saturday, and then I follow. The frames where everyone is arranged neatly are fine. The ones you keep are usually the other kind — someone mid-jump, someone laughing at their sister, everyone briefly in one place before it falls apart again.

סיור צילום איטי. עוצרות להסתכל על האור, על הקווים, על הדברים שבדרך כלל עוברים לידם בדרך למקום אחר. לא צריך מצלמה "אמיתית", זו שכבר בכיס מספיקה, ואני אעבור בין כולן ואראה לכן דברים בשטח.

One of the first things I check before a shoot — the light.

This short video shows it in real time: the same hand, the same few seconds, and how differently it reads depending on where the light is coming from. Soft here, harsher just a step away. That's the difference I'm looking for before you even sit down.

A few seconds of testing tells me exactly where to put you.

We shot this in the deep of winter - soft windows, warm wood, no coat required.

The Royal Library in Copenhagen was almost ours alone that morning. Winter light has its own way of being kind.

Starting a little series here — small things that help in front of the camera, one a week.

Tip 06: Give your hands something to do.

So many people ask me this: "what do I even do with my hands?" Touch a collar, hold your coffee, rest them gently on a table — anything that feels natural to you. Hands with nothing to do are usually the first place nerves show up, so I like giving them something to hold onto.
