🪲This funny-looking lad is a longhorn beetle that belongs to the Leptostylus genus.

🪲Longhorn beetles have exceptionally long antennae that can be as long as or longer than their bodies and they are found all around the world, except Antarctica.

🪲Fun fact: Beetles cannot see very well, so they communicate using pheromones, sounds or vibrations.

These may not be the best photos I've taken (I wish I had my camera with me), but I feel like everyone should see this very special jumping spider.

They are often referred to as black pincer spiders due to their dark jaws and they are active hunters during the day, stalking their prey and attacking with a fast leap. They are not considered dangerous to humans, and while they may bite in defense, their bite is not venomous. 🕷️

I believe this specie is the Common Hentz Jumping Spider (Hentzia palmarum), but if another biologist thinks otherwise please let me know ✨

Meet the Synoeca wasps, also known as warrior wasps or drumming wasps. They might look intimidating, but they’re not out to get us (unless you mess with their nest).🌿

These paper wasps are actually really important for the environment. They hunt other insects to feed their larvae, helping control pests, and they also drink nectar, which means they do some pollinating too. 🪻

So next time you see one buzzing around, remember, they’re fierce, but they’re also doing their part to keep nature in balance. ⚖️

✨ Named after one of my favorite works of art, the Starry Night Metalmark seems to carry a piece of the night sky on its wings. Found in the Amazon rainforest of Ecuador and Peru, this butterfly belongs to the genus Eurybia, some of whose species form fascinating mutualistic relationships with ants, offering them food in exchange for protection.
