With immense joy, I'd like to share that thanks to the support of the Dom Phillips Rainforest Journalism Fund from the Pulitzer Center, Isabel Alarcon and I collaborated on a story spotlighting the Achuar Indigenous people in the Ecuadorian Amazon Rainforest, showcasing their adoption of solar energy as an eco-friendly alternative to oil. Today, our story has found its way to the Washington Post

Hoy se estrena la película Al Oriente de José María Avilés .e en los Multicines del Scala Shopping a las 20:00. Tuve la suerte y enorme placer de fotografiar el tras cámaras durante el rodaje. Sinceramente ha sido uno de los trabajos que más disfruté y de los que más aprendí. Muchas gracias por haber confiado en mí para esto y espero poder seguir colaborando con la fotografía fija en otras producciones cinematográficas, así que si tienen un proyecto, chiflen!

Con estamos muy felices de contarles que nuestro docu fue uno de los largometrajes seleccionados por el IDFA Bertha Fund del de este año! Queremos reconocer que este es un esfuerzo colectivo por el que han pasado bastantes personas, algunas se han ido y otras se han quedado, a todas ellas les queremos agradecer por todo su trabajo ya que sin ustedes no estaríamos aquí. Además, quisiéramos agradecer a nuestra casa productora por el apoyo constante y a por los incentivos anteriores. Por mi parte, quisiera agradecer de todo corazón a mi editor y hermano .rarbit quien ha sabido traducir sentimientos en secuencias y a Mayfe, mi productora estrella, por toda su paciencia y enseñanzas. Este reconocimiento me emociona mucho y también me da muchos nervios porque entiendo que conlleva una gran dosis de responsabilidad. Como le dije a Mayfe cuando nos enteramos: ahora sí toca hacer una buena peli o si no nos cagamos. Así que espero no cagarla en este, mi primer viaje cinematográfico.

[ESP abajo] I might be old-fashioned but just like this guy, I don't want to see reels on and I don't want it's suggestions either. I want to see photographs from the people and media I follow. If Instagram wants to become Tiktok maybe we should just leave it for a photography friendly app? Tell me guys if you have any suggestions!

Puede que sea anticuado, pero al igual que este señor, no quiero ver reels en Instagram y tampoco quiero sus sugerencias. Quiero ver fotografías de las personas y medios que sigo. Si Instagram quiere convertirse en Tiktok quizás deberíamos dejarlo para una aplicación que se dedique a la fotografía. Cuéntenme si tienen alguna sugerencia acerca de esto!

Siempre he pensado que los fotógrafos somos nuestros propios peores editores y con los directores de cine documental pasa exactamente lo mismo. Con la guía del .rarbit hemos empezado a navegar las turbulentas aguas de la edición y la buena noticia es que no hemos naufragado 🌊🌀⛵. Editar siempre me remueve muchas cosas y más aún cuando es un proyecto tan personal como Hijos de la Luz.

I've always thought that we photographers are our own worst editors and with documentary filmmakers it's exactly the same. With the guidance of Andrés Cornejo, we've started to navigate the turbulent waters of editing and the good news is that we haven't drowned 🌊🌀⛵. Editing always stirs up a lot of things for me and even more so when it's such a personal project like Light Memories.
