In 1989, a unique bus shelter was built in Kabli based on drawings by Bruno Raab. Shaped like half of a ship, the pavilion symbolises Kabli’s rich maritime history and commemorates the last wooden motor sailing vessel, “Neptun”, launched from the local beach in 1930. In the 19th and early 20th centuries, Kabli was famous as a seafaring village and an important shipbuilding centre, where large sailing ships and later motor vessels were constructed for voyages on the Baltic Sea and beyond. Today, the bus shelter recalls that era and stands as a small monument to local shipbuilders and sailors. Thanks to its distinctive design, it has become one of Kabli’s best-known landmarks, where an everyday structure is charmingly combined with the region’s history and cultural heritage.

The Kabli Nature Study Trail is located in Pärnumaa, in the village of Kabli on the coast of the Gulf of Riga. Opened in 2008, this 1.8 km circular route introduces visitors to the area’s coastal landscapes, dunes, forests and diverse habitats. The trail starts at the Kabli Nature Centre and mostly follows wooden boardwalks. Along the way you will find information boards, educational nest boxes, two birdwatching towers and the Kabli Bird Station, where bird migration is studied and birds are ringed. The area is a famous stopover site for migratory birds, especially during the busy autumn migration. Walking the trail usually takes 1–2 hours and it is accessible for wheelchair users and visitors with prams. Nearby, at the Priivitsa campfire site, you can rest or set up a tent.

The Häädemeeste Beacon (seamark) stands in the small town of Häädemeeste on the coast of the Gulf of Riga in Pärnu County. It is a navigation mark that helps ships and smaller vessels orient themselves along the shoreline. The current beacon was completed in 1956 and forms part of the Estonian Transport Administration’s system of navigation marks. The white lattice-structure seamark has become one of Häädemeeste’s best-known landmarks and is clearly visible both from the sea and from the coast. Häädemeeste has a long history of fishing and coastal shipping, and the beacon is an important element of the maritime heritage of the Gulf of Riga. The structure is not open to visitors, but it can be observed from the surrounding area and is an interesting stop for those interested in maritime history and coastal architecture.

Whooper Swan Campfire Site

The Whooper Swan Campfire Site is located in Tartu County, in the Ilmatsalu fish ponds and wetlands area, on the Ilmatsalu–Kärevere bird trail, on the banks of the Ilmatsalu River. It is a small recreation area established by the Estonian Forest Management Board, with a campfire site, seating areas, and a table for a short stop or picnic.

The site is suitable as a stopover for walkers and fishermen who are walking along the river or on the surrounding trails. As the name suggests, whooper swans and other water birds can be seen in the area during migration, for which the Ilmatsalu wetlands are an important stopover.

During heavy rainfall, the access road may be difficult to pass at times. Campfires may only be made in the designated area, and visitors are asked to keep the area clean.
