Magdi Nassar is an Egyptian writer born in the village of "Meet Mazzah" in Mansoura in 1984. He holds a Bachelor of Arts and Education degree in English Language from the Faculty of Education, Mansoura University. He also holds general and specialized diplomas in Foundations of Education. Holding general and specialized diplomas in Drama and Theatrical Criticism from the Faculty of Arts; Ain Shams University, he is currently enrolled in a Master's program in the same department.

Magdi Nassar has emerged as a rising star in the Egyptian literary and cultural landscape, carving out a distinguished niche as a unique and masterful critical voice. The distinctiveness of his approach lies in his remarkable ability to deconstruct and analyze texts using rigorous scientific methodologies, without ever falling into the trap of academic dryness or complimentary bias. Instead, he deftly wields these analytical tools in an engaging, fluid prose that seamlessly blends depth of vision with an eloquent presentation.
This unique fusion of methodical precision and captivating delivery elevates his critical readings into a parallel creative endeavor-one that illuminates the text for the general reader while inspiring wonder in the specialist, thereby establishing an exceptional critical presence that brilliantly balances science and art.

A novelist, short story writer, literary critic, theatrical critic, screenwriter, educational author, and literary editor, he has published critical articles in several Egyptian magazines and newspapers. He has written some short films and one feature film, and has also published several books on teaching English.

A passionate reader, plant enthusiast, and lifelong observer of human nature, she is currently pursuing a Master's degree focused on cultural mediation, exploring how museums and cultural institutions can become more accessible, meaningful, and connected to everyday life. Photo session of my dear friend, the Egyptian visual artist: Sahar Al-Amir.

Sahar Al-Amir is an Egyptian artist who studied and trained in both Egypt and Italy across a diverse range of mediums. Born in Alexandria in 1970, she studied graphic design and earned her Bachelor’s Degree from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Alexandria University in 1993.

Al-Amir creates multi-layered abstract artworks. Each series she produces is distinct in its themes and aesthetics, demonstrating her remarkable capacity for continuous evolution and artistic development.

She pursued advanced studies and training in the art of engraving in Urbino, Italy. Her artwork has been featured in numerous regional and international group and solo exhibitions.

Furthermore, she has participated in prominent international art fairs, most notably:
- Context Miami (2016 and 2017)
- 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair in London and New York (2019)
- AKAA (Also Known As Africa) (2021)
- Dar Al-Anda in Jordan (2024).

Al-Amir was awarded the State Award for Creativity in Graphics in 1995, in addition to winning several other local and international accolades. Her artworks are held in both private and public collections across Egypt, Italy, Canada, and Japan, as well as by the Egyptian Ministry of Culture.

Her latest and most recent exhibition, "Fragmented Memories" (Beyout Maqsousa), stands as a striking artistic manifestation. Reflecting on this collection, visual artist Shaza Yahya states:
"As a young child, every woman dreamed of a doll and a house, gathering fabric scraps like treasures to craft a doll or fashion colorful clothes for her plastic toy. The young 'Sahar Al-Amir' was no exception to this rule; she would gather fabric from beneath her grandmother's sewing machine, making dresses for her dolls, dreaming of the colors of her future home fabrics, and the shades and textures of her own future dresses."

Mohamed El Kashef is a poet and freelance photographer. Born in Faiyum in 1985, he graduated from the Department of History, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Minia University.

El Kashef possesses a unique visual perspective that blends technical mastery with the ability to manipulate light and angles to create cinematic compositions of exceptional quality. His expertise focuses on documenting social issues, folklore, and portraiture through a distinctive style that pays meticulous attention to detail. This approach ensures images of profound visual depth and clarity, reflecting the true identity of the place or person. This vision is evident in his numerous photographic projects to date, where he integrates visual composition skills with a passion for the philosophical analysis of imagery. This synergy lends his work an intellectual character that transcends traditional aesthetics to engage the viewer’s consciousness.

El Kashef’s creative roots extend into the realm of the Poem; writing was the primary catalyst and the spark that later shaped his visual awareness. For him, photography is nothing but "poetry written with light." In his early career, he was influenced by the work of the Syrian poet: Riad al-Saleh al-Hussein, drawing inspiration from his profound simplicity and ability to capture forgotten everyday details a quality reflected in his camera lens as he searches for the human essence.

This literary journey has culminated in the publication of five poetry collections:
- Perhaps the Sky Will Soften, Al-Naseem Publishing, 2016.
- Half a Spoon of Sugar, Al-Adham Publishing, 2023.
- A Mischievous, Not Unkind Boy, Tafra Publishing, 2023.
- Facing the World with a Lost Soul, Al-Naseem Publishing, 2024.
- As If I Am a Rose Overcome by Its Thorns, Al-Naseem Publishing, 2025.

These works represent a fundamental pillar of his creative project, where language flows to create the image, and the image transforms into a visual text that transcends documentation into the horizons of interpretation.

El Kashef is a member of the Literary Club at Itsa Culture House in Faiyum. He served as the official photographer for the Aswan International Women Film Festival (AIWFF) for its 3rd (2019) and 4th (2020) editions, as well as the official photographer for the Cairo Literary Forum (CLF) for its 6th (2024) and 7th (2025) editions.

His poems, journalistic features, and photo essays have been published across various websites and magazines. His work has been featured in interviews and profiles by: Al-Ahram (Daily and Evening), Akhbar Al-Nojoum, Raseef22, RE Cultural Platform, Masryat, Al-Araby Al-Jadeed, Bab Masr, Merit Digital Magazine, Radio and Television Magazine, Rose al-Yusuf, Funoun, Al-Thaqafa Al-Jadida, Al-Karma, Al-Qahira Cultural Newspaper, Al-Ummah Cultural Newspaper, and Akhbar Al-Adab.

Summary video of the General Assembly's annual meeting of savings and cooperative finance funds was held in the village of Ibwan, Minya Governorate, under the auspices of the Social and Cooperative Economy Network in the Middle East and North Africa.

Yesterday, the General Assembly of the Cooperative Savings and Credit Funds was held in Abwan village, Minya Governorate – Egypt, reflecting the advancement of a farmer-led solidarity-based economic model.

For the first time, the model enabled farmers to move beyond dependence on small traders and high-interest profit-driven financing, which has long constrained agricultural production. The funds achieved a growth rate of 125%, demonstrating strong performance and scalability.

The model also supports the transition toward agroecology by providing cooperative financing and establishing a “community house for inputs and seeds,” strengthening farmers’ autonomy and production sustainability.

Each fund generated an average of 32 cooperative financing opportunities for agricultural activities, alongside providing inputs and seeds—marking a shift toward organized collective action.

This innovative model, developed by the Social and Cooperative Economy Network in the Middle East and North Africa, is implemented in Egypt through member organizations, notably Taawon and the Human Services Office of the Catholic Diocese.

The assembly brought together key partners, including Misr El Kheir Foundation, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Egypt, and the Cooperative Production Union, who emphasized the importance of scaling up the model.

The event featured an open dialogue with farmers and concluded with an increase in fund capital by members, alongside the inclusion of new farmers—reflecting growing trust in the model.

What is happening in Abwan represents a replicable approach toward a more just cooperative economy and stronger community-led development.

Seminar: "A Language to Save the World: The Prose Poem and Its Grand Inquiries", Venue: Cultural Salon.

57th Cairo International Book Fair – Egypt – 2026

In a session marked by intellectual vitality and creative diversity, the Cultural Salon at the Cairo International Book Fair hosted a profound discussion titled "A Language to Save the World: The Prose Poem and Its Grand Inquiries." The event explored the intersections of poetry, language, and humanity, examining the role of writing in an era of major global shifts.

The seminar was moderated by Esraa El-Nemr, an acclaimed poet and cultural journalist. El-Nemr began her career in early 2011, moving from Akher Sa’a magazine to the prestigious Akhbar Al-Adab in 2015. She is notably the recipient of the Egyptian Journalism Award for Cultural Journalism (2022).

The panel featured a diverse group of contemporary voices:
- Ahmed Salama Al-Rashidi (Poet, Egypt)
- Alaa Fouda (Poet, Egypt)
- Lin Al-Waary (Poet, Palestine)
- Zainab Al-Qaisi (Poet, Jordan)

The Poetics of the Human Condition:
In her opening remarks, Esraa El-Nemr expressed her alignment with the prose poem, describing it as a medium preoccupied with the human predicament rather than mere linguistic decoration. She argued that the controversy surrounding this form stems from its disruption of traditional prosody (Arud) and its proximity to everyday language, which transforms the reader into an active partner in the text. El-Nemr noted that the roots of this poetic spirit are embedded in Arabic heritage, particularly in Sufi prose.

Beauty as an Existential Necessity
Dr. Ahmed Salama Al-Rashidi, poet and physician (author of The Men Who Carried Their Wills to Me), posited that beauty is not a luxury but an existential requirement. Citing John Steinbeck’s observation on how humans "decorate their cages," he suggested that art, love, and friendship are the subtle tools by which we endure and navigate life's harsh realities.

Poetry and the Palestinian Narrative
Addressing the prose poem's capacity to confront tragedy—specifically the ongoing genocide in Gaza—Lin Al-Waary, a Gazan poet of Jerusalemite descent, argued that monumental tragedies are often best captured through the "small details" that traditional metrical poetry might overlook. She asserted that the prose poem resonates most closely with the zeitgeist of the new generation, rejecting rigid molds and the need for institutional "validation" to write in specific forms.

Resistance and Evolution
Dr. Zainab Al-Qaisi, a scholar of English Literature and literary activist, discussed the evolution of resistance literature. While acknowledging the enduring influence of Mahmoud Darwish, she noted that Darwish remained an exception by writing about the Palestinian human rather than just the cause. Al-Qaisi emphasized that the contemporary prose poem effectively documents the brutal daily realities of Palestinians, asserting that writing about love and mundane life is a fundamental human right that does not diminish one's political commitment.

The Subjective as a Mirror to the World
Alaa Fouda, winner of the Akhbar Al-Adab award for her debut A Hoarseness in a Wolf’s Howl and author of the newly released I Sever My Branch from the Family Tree (Al-Mutawassit), argued that a subjective perspective in poetry is not an escape from major causes but a reflection of them. In an era of "collapsing grand narratives," Fouda believes the poet’s return to the self acts as a mirror to global crises. She further stressed the freedom of the text, noting that the prose poem—often born as a singular emotional burst—should remain open to multiple interpretations without forced explanation.

The seminar saw a remarkable turnout, including a group of students from Sharqia Governorate who attended with their teacher—a testament to the prose poem's ability to engage younger audiences and spark dialogue.

Following the seminar, Alaa Fouda held a book signing for her latest collection, I Sever My Branch from the Family Tree, at the Al-Mutawassit Publishing booth.

About the Author
Medhat Safwat is an Egyptian literary critic and researcher specializing in discourse analysis. He has served as a visiting lecturer at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, and has lectured at several Egyptian research centers. Safwat is a prominent intellectual contributor, with essays featured on platforms such as Al Arabiya and Al-Manassa.

His critical bibliography explores deconstruction strategies, Arabic discourse, and heritage issues. His most recent works include:

- The Rhetoric of Code: Arts and Literature in the Age of Risks (House of Wisdom for Cultural Industries, 2025).
- Power and Interest: Deconstruction Strategies and Arabic Discourse (General Egyptian Book Organization).

Hend is an Egyptian writer, novelist and screenwriter, she was born in Riyadh in 1977. and graduated from the Faculty of law, Banha University, and obtained a diploma in art criticism in 2005.

She is a freelance journalist who writes for numerous Egyptian websites, newspapers, and magazines, including: (Masryat.com\Raseef22.com\Al-Mizan.com\Alam Al-Kitab Magazine\black and white Magazine\Akhbar Al-Nujoum Magazine\Al-Dustour Newspaper, and Harf Magazine), and others.

and through 25 years in the writing field, She participated in writing many scenarios for drama and cinema for the Egyptian Radio, the Egyptian Television, the Saudi Television, and the Egyptian Cinema, and co-wrote and preparing the documentary "Gab El-Deeb Men Deleh" (He Pulled the Wolf by His Tail), about the life story of the great late author and theatrical producer, Samir Khafagy.

She also teaches literary writing and scenario methods in many of her workshops in cooperation with literary institutions.
