Fire. Air. Water. Earth ~ they’re called the 4 elements of life for a reason.
These pieces were for .mam’s ‘Exploring Mental Health Through Art’ exhibition. My idea was to visually narrate the reciprocal relationship between the natural world and our mental health. Everything is linked to an element of life that we may take for granted but has a huge impact on our mental well-being. Obviously there are other factors, but we’ve built therapies around this idea. We’ve often used these natural elements as a means to restore balance. We’ve even integrated them in a wide range of therapeutic techniques ~ from light therapy, to nature-exposure therapy, to meditation and many more. We can clearly see how an imbalance in our natural environment can affect our mental well-being.
My photography depicts these elements quite often and it’s what I naturally gravitate towards shooting. It’s almost as if my lens has become my own place of meditation. I’m super proud to have been part of this event for the second year in a row, supporting a cause that aligns with everything I believe in. Thank you .mam for giving us the space to tell a story about mental health through art.
