What happens when we stop looking at a flower as simply a flower?

In *The Essence of Life*, I explore the space where nature and the human form begin to overlap.

The delicate becomes powerful.
The hidden becomes meaningful.
And intimacy can exist without ever being spoken.

Flowers have always carried layers of symbolism — beauty, purity, desire, vulnerability, creation. But for me, they became something more personal: a way to explore the parts of ourselves that are not immediately visible.

The parts we protect.
The parts we desire.
The parts we are still learning to embrace.

Through form, shadow, colour and the human body, I wanted to create images that don’t give everything away at once.

Images that invite you to pause.

To look again.

And perhaps, to see something of yourself in what you find.

There is something about a flower that makes us look twice.

Perhaps it is its softness.
Its curves.
What it reveals — and what it keeps hidden.

In *The Essence of Life*, I use the flower as a way to explore the space between the delicate and the powerful, the visible and the unseen, innocence and desire.

But beneath the flower, there is always something human.

A longing to be seen.
A need for intimacy.
A vulnerability that doesn’t need words.

These photographs are an invitation to look beyond what is immediately visible — and to find beauty in everything that exists beneath the surface.

Because sometimes, the most intimate things are the ones we never say.

Some words stay with you.

I was deeply touched to receive this reflection from Emily Breakell, Assistant Manager at The Brick Lane Gallery in London, about The Death of a Flower:

“From its vibrant bloom to its gradual fading, beautifully captures the essence of life and its inevitable passage. It’s a poignant reflection on the fleeting nature of beauty and existence, and the contrast between vitality and decay is portrayed with such sensitivity.”

This is exactly what I hoped to explore through this series.

We often associate beauty with what is at its peak—the moment when a flower is fully open, vibrant, alive.

But a flower does not stop being beautiful when it begins to fade.

Its beauty changes.

This project was my way of slowing down enough to witness every stage: the anticipation of opening, the fullness of bloom, the gradual surrender, and finally, the last petal.

Because nothing stays.

And perhaps that is precisely what makes each moment worth seeing.

We are often taught to look for beauty at its peak.

When everything is blooming.
When everything is at its fullest.
When everything feels alive.

But what if beauty was never meant to be found in just one moment?

For this project, I wanted to witness the entire life of a flower—from the first signs of opening to the moment its last petal falls.

And somewhere along the way, I realized:

The bud is beautiful.
The blossom is beautiful.
The fading is beautiful.
Even the ending has something to say.

Nothing about the flower needed to last forever to be meaningful.

Perhaps we could look at ourselves the same way.

Not only celebrating who we are when we are thriving,
but learning to see beauty in every version of ourselves along the way.

The Death of a Flower is a reminder to be present for the becoming, the blooming, and the letting go. 🌿

Maybe home was never really a place.

Maybe it’s a feeling.
A presence.
A quiet moment when you realize you’re exactly where you’re meant to be.

After moving through different countries and constantly having to redefine what “home” meant to me, I’ve learned that the place matters less than who—and what—we share it with.

Sometimes, home is simply a wagging tail,
a familiar presence,
and the feeling of being loved without having to say a word. 🐾🤍

It wasn’t about time passing.

It was about learning to let time slow down.

To notice the seconds between one moment and the next.

The light moving across a room.

A flower opening.

A breath.

A glance.

Those little moments when everything seems to freeze for just a second...

And you realize you are here.

Present.

Alive.

Maybe we spend too much of our lives waiting for the next moment, without realizing that life is happening in the in-between.

Time taught me that I don’t need to hold onto every moment.

I only need to be present enough to feel it.
