Mediterranean Storm-Petrel (Hydrobates pelagicus melitensis).
Waters off Tarragona (Spain).
A taxon that needs more studies, especially regarding its movements. Most of the population breeds on islets in the W and C Mediterranean and its population is estimated at around 20,000 pairs.

Ascension Island is placed over a thousand miles out in the mid-Atlantic and is famous because of the Green turtles, thousands of females come every year to laid their eggs.
And amongst the turtles, the seabirds and the Sally Lightfoot there is the Ascension Crab (Johngarthia lagostoma), endemic to this and other small islands located to the west, near the coast of Brazil. How these land crabs came here is a mystery, it is believed that their larvae traveled on trunks displaced by tropical storms to the island and colonized it.
Every year, female crabs leave their mountain fastness. They lower themselves hundreds of meters down cliffs, were they release eggs into the approaching waves. The larvae float at sea for three weeks before coming ashore as tiny crabs.

Crescent-faced Antpitta (Grallaricula lineifrons) adult.

The day I met my wife I told her that my dream was to see this antpitta, without a doubt the nicest of all the antpittas in the world. Less than a year later she was next to me showing me this beauty, the moment was unforgettable. Thanks Ale to make my dream come true, te amo.
