These portraits of my beautiful Alise were such a joy to work on. As I shot her, I was like the photographer’s version of Sharapova at each click - just emitting sounds and words of praise “omg yes!” “yeesssss” “right there, don’t move” “perrrrfect” at the sight of the wonderful combination of natural light with excellent posing. Needless to say we both found this amusing which made it harder to keep a straight face 😜☺️ Working on these was a sweet reminder of the clear aesthetic and simple composition that I am drawn to in my and others’ photography. Thank you Alise 🩵🌿

There’s something special about seeing your work framed and ultimately finished. Apart from making myself proud, the work becomes legitimate, it’s tangible and any hint of imposter syndrome is squashed for some time. I hope I can carry this feeling onto a new project.

One of my favourite portraits by Annie Leibovitz is this iconic one she took of Whoopi Goldberg in a bath full of milk. I looove the use of negative space , I love Whoopi’s expression and playfulness and I think the symbolism and idea behind it is so clever.😍📷

Life lately

1. After a year of stress and obstacles but a lot of learning in the process, moved to another studio. So much happier and motivated ✨
2. Spent time with my closest friends this summer and did fun things like going to a VINEYARD 💁🏻‍♀️🍷
3. Spent quality time with my family ❤️
4. Said goodbye to the family car that took us from Belgium to Spain and back every summer growing up. Thank you el Peugeot 🥹🚙
5. Partners in crime, lives progressing and nails growing in sync 💅🏼
6. Hit dog toy this summer 🎾
7. Hit ice-cream this summer 🍦
8. Did a kitchen reno which changed our lives for the better 🔪👩🏻‍🍳👨🏾‍🍳
9. Got dressed up more and felt like ROSALIA 💃🏻
10. Went axe throwing with habibi and celebrated 3 years together 🪓🥰❤️

Lately, I have to remind myself that I’m not constrained to only using my professional camera. Many times I miss fleeting moments because of this idea (even if it is just for a feel-good selfie). I’ll be walking with Mila and see beauty on the daily but never capture it. Today I’m changing that by using my phone as a tool for inspiration, practice and ideas for when it’s time to hit the studio 📸🤳🏼
