Poca presentación necesita el Krait rayado (𝑩𝒖𝒏𝒈𝒂𝒓𝒖𝒔 𝒇𝒂𝒔𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒕𝒖𝒔) para quienes hemos admirado y estudiado sobre serpientes a lo largo de nuestra vida. Esta emblemática y mortífera especie de la familia de los elápidos (cobras, corales, taipanes, kraits, etc.) no era tan fácil de encontrar en estado silvestre como yo imaginaba en un principio.
El hecho de ver cientos de fotografías de kraits por internet de colegas que viajan al sudeste asiático, siempre me hizo creer que se trataba de una serpiente muy abundante y sencilla de localizar en la noche, más teniendo en cuenta sus llamativos colores, y la realidad es bien distinta debido a sus hábitos y los lugares en los que suelen desarrollar su actividad.
A pesar de su tremenda toxicidad, se trata de una especie poco o nada agresiva, lo cual reduce el riesgo de mordeduras en los casos en los que la serpiente ha sido localizada. Como siempre, los accidentes ocurren si la pisas o te apoyas sobre una sin querer, al igual que con otras tantas especies venenosas.

The Banded Krait (𝑩𝒖𝒏𝒈𝒂𝒓𝒖𝒔 𝒇𝒂𝒔𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒕𝒖𝒔) needs little introduction for those of us who have admired and studied snakes throughout our lives. This emblematic and deadly species of the elapid family (cobras, coral snakes, taipans, kraits, etc.) was not as easy to find in the wild as I initially imagined.
Seeing hundreds of photographs of kraits on the Internet from colleagues who travel to Southeast Asia always made me believe that it was a very abundant snake and easy to locate at night, especially taking into account its striking colors, and the reality is quite different due to its habits and the places where it usually develops its activity.
Despite its tremendous toxicity, it is a species that is not very aggressive or not at all, which reduces the risk of bites in cases where the snake has been located. As always, accidents occur if you step on it or lean on one accidentally, as with many other venomous species.
