As Hannah Montana would say… “everybody makes mistakes”🎶🎤💃🏼Welp, this was one 😅

When we applied for our first Vietnam visa, I didn’t have it all planned out so I thought we only needed a month so we got approved for a month, instead of the 90-days (which I thought was automatically given).

When Jose realized our visas were expiring, we looked into getting an extension, but read it was actually way more complicated than just applying for a new e-visa and doing a “quick” border run. But here was the massive catch: the new visa couldn’t be approved until we were physically out of Vietnam. And once we finally stamped out into Cambodia, we found out it takes up to 3 business days to actually process the new visa. We were officially stuck.

Shelling out a $200 extra for an emergency expedite fee hurts a lot when your daily travel budget for two people is usually just $100. Lesson learned the hard way.

Have you ever had to do a visa run? Was it a breeze, or a total disaster? Let us know below! 👇😅

There always needs to be at least one “aggressively curious” person in the travel group. 👀😄

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JOSE! 🎉🎂

Behind this relaxing beach smile is the guy who hauls our luggage, manages the spreadsheets, makes sense of all our chaotic travel footage, and deals with my “sometimes” uncomfortable adventures. 🎒💻 But most importantly, who I get to experience life and these adventures with.

Happy birthday to my husband who puts up with it all. I‘m glad to have you by my side and cheers to another year around the sun!🥂🌊

Where time stopped 20 years ago...

Opened half-finished in 2004. Completely abandoned by 2006. What was supposed to be a vibrant waterpark is now Vietnam’s most beautiful abandoned monument sitting in the middle of a beautiful lake near Vietnam’s imperial city of Hue. And it was definitely still a sight to see 🐉😍

Day 1 of the Ha Giang Loop did not disappoint! 🏍️🇻🇳
Save this post for your next Vietnam trip because you are going to want these details. 👇
We are traveling on $100/day and this crazy adventure happened to fit the budget! We decided to book a 4-Day / 3-Night tour with Ha Giang Go, and honestly, it has been the best decision.

Here is the total price breakdown for the 4day/3night tour:
~$200 per person if you want to chill on the back with an Easy Rider.
~ $156 per person if you are driving your own bike.
(Converted from Vietnamese d**g)

This felt like a total steal considering it covered our transportation, all of our accommodations (even a free stay the night before we started!), 3 massive meals a day, daily water, and of course... the happy water. 🍻

⚠️ Important tip if you want to drive yourself: You legally need an International Driving Permit (IDP) to ride in Vietnam. Specifically, it needs to be issued under the 1968 Vienna Convention and must have a valid motorcycle endorsement along with your home-country motorcycle license. (A quick heads-up: IDPs from places like the US, UK, Canada, and Australia are usually the 1949 version and technically aren’t accepted by local police. Definitely double-check your country’s IDP status before you go, or just book an Easy Rider to be completely stress-free!)

One of the best parts was that we had a small group of just 7 people. It was amazing because it allowed for so much flexibility with our schedule. We never felt rushed, didn’t have to wait around for a huge crowd, and could just hit the road or stop for views whenever we wanted.
Such an epic start to this road trip. Stay tuned for Day 2!

They say it’s the cheapest souvenir in Hanoi 😂
Although on train street you do need to buy a drink at one of the cafes to secure a seat. ☕️🍺 but it’s still pretty cheap
