🔔On the occasion of the official visit of Pope Leo XIV to Gran Canaria, special mobility and security measures will be in place at various points across the island on Thursday, 11 June.
Most tourist services, accommodation, restaurants, shops and activities will continue to operate as normal. However, temporary traffic restrictions and increased numbers of people are expected in certain areas.
⚠️If you plan to travel between the south of Gran Canaria, the airport and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, we recommend allowing more time than usual for your journeys.
Areas where the greatest disruption is expected.
Arguineguín and the south of Gran Canaria
An official event will be held at the Port of Arguineguín during the morning.
The main disruptions will be concentrated in:
Port of Arguineguín.
Access routes to Arguineguín.
GC-500.
Sections of the GC-1 between the airport and the south of the island.
Temporary road closures and traffic restrictions are expected during the official journeys between Gando Air Base, Arguineguín and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
