It can rain on a wedding in ibiza but it doesn’t stop your wedding from happening 🤍
Quite a few years ago on the 1 June we had one of those days where it didn’t stop raining. Like not even ‘just a shower’ in the morning and then beautiful blue skies (this is what it normally does) but a rain all day long day. And I had a wedding. A wedding planned with sunflowers and sunshine and colour.
It’s heartbreaking to watch an Ibiza bride and groom have their blue skies sunny destination wedding dreams be shattered by the weather. I always think: They could have just stayed in the UK, Germany, The Netherlands for that! Poor things.
I have watched tears, stress and disappointment. Cars break down (yes because of too much rain/ looking at you Chris and Emma) winds blow everything wild, delays cause havoc.
Of course the wedding always goes ahead, the couple and their family always have an amazingly beautiful time. Maybe even the best time because a different story was made.
Yes it can be rubbish to celebrate in the grey sky, missing the golden light. The colours may be a bit washed out but you know a wedding is actually about something else: it’s about the story, YOUR love story - it’s about all of your family and friends coming together, and that can be told whatever the weather is doing, it really is so much more than the weather.
A wedding is your one day, and I know you will be ‘whatever to the weather’ once you start your celebration.
Here are some REAL moments of joy from very rainy Ibiza weddings. Actually it’s these weddings I can remember even more, 10/12 years on. Because the focus became something else.
