Moody and mysterious bridal portraits under a skylight. Blooming magnolia romance that felt straight out of a Hollywood romance movie poster. Candid frames into the urban landscape, the way they moved together with that gentle, magnetic chemistry you can’t deny.
Their evening was spent gathered around a long table, surrounded by their closest people.
Intimate, emotional, and true to them.

Here are 3 tips I always give my couples before they choose a venue:

1. A private, natural-light getting-ready space.
If you and your partner get ready on-site, you save travel time and gain more emotional, candid moments. If you’re in different locations, build travel realistically into your timeline.

2. Clarity on which areas are truly available for photos.
Golf courses, estates, and private clubs often have restrictions.
Knowing this early helps to not fall in love with the view to later find out it is off limits 
3. A rain plan that’s just as beautiful as the outdoor plan. Soft tents, covered patios, and window light keep your story cohesive no matter the weather.
Choosing a venue is about more than a pretty backdrop — it’s about movement, light, emotion, and the way your day will feel.

Unpopular opinion:

Your wedding day doesn’t have to follow a formula. 
S+M met me before their ceremony for portraits, a drive, and even a breakfast stop at their favorite diner. 
And no, it didn’t take away from the magic of walking the aisle. 
They walked together, arms linked, and it was one of the best moments of the day.

Because here’s the truth: when you slow down and make your timeline your own, everything feels more intentional. 
You get to breathe. To connect. To actually live inside your day, not just pose through it.
