Rooted at the University of Delaware, the Delaware Choral Scholars have traveled the globe while representing the First State.
DCS may not have come home with the top trophy at April’s European Grand Prix for Choral Singing in Slovenia, but their journey reads like a world-class story nonetheless.
Their performance at the World Choir Games in New Zealand in 2024 propelled DCS to the No. 1 world ranking with the international organization Interkultur. They have stayed as the world’s top choir ever since.
“Before us, that position was held for several years by Stellenbosch University, near Cape Town [in South Africa],” Head says. “So this really put Delaware—and U.S. choral music—on the map in a new way.”
