We will conduct a face-to-face video interview with you exploring your life & recording the significant events that made you the person you are. A: We will have one or two conversations about the interview before it happens; these can be by telephone, online, or face-to-face at a location of your choice. ace, and agree a date;
- You will select the still photographs that you want to have feature in the interview and would like to talk about. You will also think about any questions you may wish to have asked, or subjects you may not want to discuss;
- The interview will occur on the agreed date and recording will take place over most of the day with several breaks;
- We will have a conversation a few days after the interview to see if you have things that you definitely want included in the final video, or things that you don’t want included;
- The recordings are sent off for editing and it may be up to four weeks before you receive a ‘rough cut’ of the final video; you can ask to have things removed at this stage, but we cannot add any new material. We will agree what formats you would like the final video in;
- The final video will be delivered to you in the formats you have requested. Q: How much does it cost? A: The full cost is €1,200 (inc. Following the interview, €600 is due and the balance on delivery of the final video. Q: Where can TimeTalks interviews occur? A: An interview will generally occur in the home of the interviewee and interviews can occur only in the Axarquia region of Spain, for the cost shown above; any other region will involve additional charges. Q: Do I get to see the interview questions in advance? A: We prefer not to give you a list of questions in advance, because most questions arise naturally during the interview, and this allows for a more free-flowing exchange. If there are certain questions that you definitely do, or do not, want asked then this can be discussed and agreed in advance? Q: What control do I have over the content of the video? A: All of the material recorded and the final video is your property. Nothing will be shown anywhere without your permission. If you decide you do not wish to have certain things included in the final video, these will be removed at the ‘rough cut’ stage. Once you have the final recording we will delete all copies of the interview from our database unless you wish otherwise; at this time we will ask if you are happy for us to use a suitable short extract from the video for publicity purposes, you can always refuse. Q: In what form will I receive the final video? A: Once again, this is up to you. If you want the video to be placed on the internet, either for private or public viewing, we will arrange this. If you want the video in the form of an electronic file for you to share only as you see fit, we can do this, and if you would like it delivered to you on a USB stick, or on a DVD, we can arrange this. Q: What if I want the video to be longer than 1 hour? A: The video is likely to be a few minutes longer than 1 hour, but not shorter. If you are clear that you would like a longer final video, either before recording or after recording, this will be negotiated at the time. As a rough rule of thumb, it will cost an extra 300 euros for every additional 10 minutes. Q: Will you film anything apart from my being interviewed and the still photographs? A: If you wish, we can film a little of your surroundings and your life apart from just the interview and still photographs; this can help create a context (e.g. your town, house, garden, you reading, cooking, sewing, practising golf, etc). However, this will only occur following a discussion with you about what this could be and the filming of this must occur on the same day, so anything additional must happen in, or close to, the location for your interview, which ordinarily will be your home. Q: Can interviews occur in other languages? A: No, only in English.

Extract of TimeTalks interview with Timothy Murdoch
(by permission of Timothy Murdoch)

Quote from Timothy:
"My cousin, Andrew, said to me recently he wished he had asked his dad (my Uncle Jimmy) more about his life. Jimmy was a Chindit in Burma during WW2, but as was common in those days, he never spoke of it. I myself often wish I knew more of my family history, even going back through the generations."
