In Loving Memory of Alemayehu Teshome
Pioneer Agricultural Economist | Champion of Ethiopian Coffee

The Ethiopian coffee farming community lost a true pioneer in agricultural development. Alemayehu Teshome dedicated his life to improving the livelihoods of coffee producers across Ethiopia. As an Agricultural Economist with the Ethiopian Coffee & Tea Development Authority and later with USAID AGP-AMDe under ACDI/VOCA, he worked hand-in-hand with farmers, offering practical guidance, organizing field demonstrations, and introducing techniques that are now widely adopted.

His efforts played a vital role in enhancing coffee quality, productivity, and farmer well-being. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Alemayehu was a man of integrity, dedication, and deep compassion.

To us—his wife, children, and especially to me, his last daughter—he was more than a public servant. He was a loving husband, a guiding father, and a wise, caring big brother. He supported us with strength, love, and unwavering commitment. His memory lives on in our hearts, and his values continue to guide us.

Rest in Peace, Gash Alemayehu.
