What a great lesson in VAXA CEA in Iceland.

It’s an unbelievable lesson for me as a man from an African country. It makes you realize the difference between countries that won the “climate lottery” and those that didn’t, and how far people can go to survive and create life in any condition.

Sometimes, relationships count their years very simply.

Professor Wolbert Smidt has been a constant presence for me since my bachelor’s time in MU. Having a friend and mentor for nearly a decade, his advice and fellowship have been invaluable. He is German by blood but Ethiopian by spirit.

I’m also so glad he contributed his words to my book.

Fifty Shades of Wanderlust for an
African Soul part I and II

I am from Africa and I am a Tourist!!!

New Year, New Adventures: My Book is Here!

Happy Ethiopian New Year! What better way to celebrate than to share a project that’s been over a decade in the making. Today, I’m excited to announce the official publication of my book, Fifty Shades of Wanderlust for an African Soul.

For years, I’ve heard the saying that travel from Africa is considered “aselam sicker.” But I’ve always proudly called myself an African tourist. This book is a testament to that journey, one that began with my very first trip in 2011 and has since taken me to over 70 countries.

This two-volume collection is more than just a travelogue; it’s a heartfelt compilation of the stories, art, and connections I’ve made along the way. It’s an invitation for you to see the world through my eyes—an African’s eyes as a solo traveler and to explore the legacy of these adventures.

A Note of Thanks ;

This project would not have been possible without the support of some amazing people. A special thank you to Professor Wolbert Smidt for his everyday advice, Dr Helen Papworth for her meticulous editing, and Dr Alexander Meckelburg for his insightful review. Colette Vester for picture selections. Your guidance was invaluable.

The online link to the book will be shared very soon. Join me as we celebrate this new beginnings and set on a new journey together!
