Some wedding days are easier than others: if it's a cloudy day and everything takes place outside, then I am forever grateful and my editing work is light. But if it's sunny and the reception area has various types of lighting, it's going to take a lot longer. This is just part of the challenge of wedding photography--but the unpredictability is something I've grown to enjoy.
Completely sunny days are the most challenging: the sun creates harsh shadows on the face and body, so generally the best option is to shoot with the sun behind the couple and then boost the shadows in editing.
Some images don't need much help, just a touch of moodiness, which is created by shifting the hue and luminance of certain tones thanks to 20+ years of editing practice.
Sometimes editing involves removing people and background distractions from the image. In the past, this could take up to 30 minutes per image. Thankfully, with new AI tools, the same process can be done in 30 seconds. Handy! 🤖
