Pilot border barrier fence at the Finnish Russian border on 30.05.2023 in Imatra, Finland. The Finnish Border Guard is building a pilot border barrier fence of approximately three kilometres nearby the Imatra border crossing point. The project is estimated to be complete in July 2023 and ready for operational use by August of the same year

Finnish Border Guard Colonel Rytkönen stands on the Finnish - Russian border. Finland is building a fence on strategic places along the 1340 km long border. According to the Finnish Border Guards this will improve the ability to control possible illegal crossings from Russia. The whole 200km of fence should be raised by 2025 and the cost of the project is planned to be over € 300mln .
