How can crop nutrient status be monitored without destructive sampling or time-consuming laboratory analysis?

Researchers at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) are exploring this challenge through the Hyper-näring project, developing non-invasive methods for monitoring crop nutrients across both laboratory and field environments.

Using Specim hyperspectral imaging solutions, the team can assess multiple nutrients simultaneously, track changes throughout the growing season, and build the foundation for future data-driven nutrient management strategies.

The project demonstrates how hyperspectral imaging can help bridge the gap between controlled research and real-world agricultural applications.

Automating textile recycling is not just about speed—it’s about making the right decisions at scale.

One challenge? Shoes rarely arrive as pairs. Instead, they come as individual items mixed with thousands of other garments. Matching them reliably becomes difficult, especially when visually similar shoes are made from different materials.

In this case study, AVICON R&D and VIVE Textile Recycling combine AI, 3D imaging, and hyperspectral technology to solve this problem.

By adding material identification to the process, the system:
• Improves pairing reliability beyond visual inspection
• Achieves consistent material classification across parallel lines (>99.5% repeatability)
• Operates at industrial scale—processing up to 9,000 shoes per hour

A good example of how spectral data can add a new layer of insight to machine vision applications.
