Missing the calm weather from the alps sometimes, but then I look out and happy enjoy the authentic wilderness we have here in Iceland. It comes at a stormy cost tho, not always easy to make it through the winter.

Looking forward a next trip, which won’t happen too soon since I decided to only travel in a more sustainable way, which means for a longer period of time and with less transports 👌

Winter is coming ❄️ already excited about new plans and projects while still trying to catch up with previous stories 😁
This picture has a nice one behind it, and will require some later post for more details. In the meantime the November rains seems to be over by our beloved glaciers and the big bright ball in the sky has showed up today after a month 😁

Now if you still wonder why we are so terrified by crevasses when traveling on glaciers, here is a picture to give you an idea of their sizes. They can of course vary in size (small enough for a phone to fall in to big enough to swallow an airplane. No jokes.)

In this picture you can see the cable car (téléphérique) crossing over the famous Vallée Blanche and also two skiers touring around the crevasse field. So yes, these crevasses you see here are big enough for any of these to fall in. And that's why we don't like getting too close.

But of course sometimes we have to cross them, so we rope up and cross finger that the snow bridge holds your weight. If not… well you better remember crevasse rescue training then 😜🤘
