As I get ready to relaunch PhotoFluent, I had some time to really think about what that means.
Something I’ve been thinking about based on advice from is that I need to incorporate more of “me” , as in photos of me. For connection. And I get it, but it’s really really hard as I just do NOT like photos of me.
But I started thinking more about it. And how much I love seeing photos of France but also of the people living there - it makes it more real and I feel like I know them better. That whole connection thing. So I will make a concerted effort - more photos of me 😬
I also started thinking about what kind of photos I post. And they’ve always had to be “portfolio worthy” or they didn’t make the cut.
Well I’m getting rid of that idea. The new PhotoFluent is about making photos we love - and some of those aren’t perfect, and wouldn’t go in anyone’s portfolio.
I want to share more of me - not just photos of me, but my experiences of moving to France. Because I know how much I love following along on other people’s journeys. So I am inviting you to come along on mine.
OK all of that to say, these photos aren’t perfect, or really even that good. But they are helping paint the picture of my morning in Paris, so here we go.
I walked over to the closest boulangerie to my hotel and it just happens to be La Maison d’Isabelle, know for “the best croissants in Paris”.
Would I normally stand in line for a pastry? Non. But this morning I was overtaken by the smell of fresh baked croissants, chilly Parisian autumn morning, and camaraderie of those seeking heaven in the form of a buttery, flakey pastry.
My intention when I started out was to try one of their pistachio pastries. But “best croissant in Paris”? I had to have one. So I got both 😳
Was it the best? Well to make that determination, I’d have to sample all the others. And this morning I don’t have the time or stamina. But oh damn was this one good! Buttery, flakey and crisp on the outside, soft and warm on the inside. Absolute heaven ❤️🥐
