One of the things I enjoy most about scale modelling is bringing real historical details back to life.
For this M3 Stuart, I wanted to recreate the improvised sandbag armor seen on period photographs. Instead of using generic shapes, I carefully studied historical references before recreating the sandbags in 3D, making sure they matched the original field modification as closely as possible.
The carousel shows the whole process:
• The finished model
• The original wartime reference
• The 3D-designed sandbags before printing
I love combining historical research, 3D design and traditional modelling to create details that feel authentic on a finished build.
The 3D-designed sandbags are available through the links in my bio if you'd like to use them on your own Stuart project.
Have you ever added improvised armor to one of your own WWII models? 🔥🤘
