Wishing everybody a nice ! Unfortunately I can’t make it to this year’s edition but dug up some photos of which I’ve taken at the DFB two years ago.

Einseinseins actually played a 90-minute set in my hometown last weekend and I think my ears haven’t fully recovered from that yet. Amazing dudes and amazing memories!

Check them out if you’re into psychedelic, Kraut- and space rock like Yuri Gagarin, Kombynat Robotron or Kraftwerk-ish stuff! Cheers and happy fathers‘ day!

Soo, in just a few weeks the one and only Muskelrock på Tyrolen festival will take place in Sweden. But before that there’s this week’s SkullCrusher Fest Freiburg happening.

It’s organized by Harald, a true maniac of the local scene. He even brought Freeways to the ArtTik last year! THE band of which I mainly went to Muskelrock for the first time, back in 2022.

So there’s probably no better way than with pictures of those hard rockers in Freiburg to get in the mood for this year’s festival season (maybe besides with Flight or Venator). See you on Friday or in Sweden!

Wayfarer! The new Kerrigan album with this name was released this week and it’s as energetic and catchy as it’s predecessor, Bloodmoon!

Although this weekend had some downlights for the Heavy Metal scene, especially with the passing of Manowar’s Ross the Boss, there’s still some good news with releases by Midnatt from Sweden, the legendary Cruel Force (who’s going to be at their Easter-show?) or the Kerrigan(g).

After organizing their first gig ever in 2024 I’ve witnessed them several times in the last few years and took these photos of them at Der Detze Rockt last summer. So with the temperatures hopefully rising, enjoy the beginning of spring while looking forwards to the next festival- and open-air-season. See you soon, Torchbearers!

It’s getting warm and this means not only, that summer is approaching but also the festival season for this year!
I finally finished editing all photos I took at the different festivals last year like the ones of Hellbutcher at Der Detze Rockt.
Risen from the ashes of Sweden’s Nifelheim, Hellbutcher are more than your typical Black Metal band with members from all kind of legendary groups like Unleashed, Bloodbath, Dead Kosmonaut and many more - and they’re also playing on several occasions this year!

2026 is already two months old and there are already some concerts on my bucket list for this year: Just recently I saw a Deep Purple cover band in my neighbour village (after which I felt like a living wreck, but that’s another story) - and thinking of Deep Purple gives me the vibe of another band, that plays a fantastic 70s-style of music with an incredible organ:

I’m talking about MOUNDRAG which just started their european tour and will come to Strasburg in late April. I’ve seen them in 2024 in Essen and was totally amazed by their absolute unique style, having just two musicians but such an energy and empathy onstage like not many bands have!

A few months later, in early 2025 I saw them with their side project Komodrag & the Mounodor at Noumatrouff - which is an absolute fantastic french supergroup. Their music is hard to explain - it felt like an american theater or musical (maybe because of their album title ‚Green Field of Armorica‘) with so many elements of the 1960s and 70s. 2025 liegt jetzt zwar schon knapp zwei Wochen zurück, aber nichtsdestotrotz möchte ich das Jahr noch ein wenig in Worten und Bildern R***e passieren lassen:

Für mich persönlich begann es sehr anspruchs- und verantwortungsvoll:
Feuerwehrtechnisch stand im Januar der Gruppenführer-Lehrgang an der Landesfeuerwehrschule statt – und danach galt es, gleich zwei Mannschaften für das Leistungsabzeichen zu trainieren, das wir dann im Mai mit Bravour bestanden. Zudem durfte ich auch den Austausch der Gruppen aus Haslach und Zell-Weierbach anregen – der wird hoffentlich noch viele Jahre Bestand haben! 👨🏻‍🚒 🎉

Darüber hinaus bin ich jetzt hochverschuldet und finanziell langjährige Verpflichtungen eingegangen – dafür aber mit der Gewissheit, ‚mein Zuhause‘ zu haben (sogar renoviert!); und es tut verdammt gut, beim Öffnen der Haustür nicht nur heim- sondern auch angekommen zu sein! 🏡 🔑

Apropos heimkommen – das bin ich 2025 immer wieder von verschiedenen Urlauben und Ausflügen:
Sei es von meinem ersten VW-Bus-Treffen im Mai; 🚒 💨
dem alljährlichen Schwedenurlaub, der über den Ruhrpott und eine entspannte Anreise, inklusive Blue Öyster Cult-Konzert ging und von Schlauchboot-Abenteuern in der schwedischen Pampa sowie einem Hamburg-Besuch abgerundet wurde; 🇸🇪 🚣‍♂️
oder endlich mal wieder einem Urlaub in Italien mit der Familie! 🇮🇹 🍾
Zudem stand ein mehrwöchiger Trip durch Portugal und Spanien an, von wo aus es direkt zum Deutschen Archivtag ging und anschließend (nach einer Stolpersteinverlegung im Dorf daheim) gab es Rock Nights in Berlin und Oslo. 🇵🇹 🇪🇸 🇳🇴

Insbesondere der letzte Trip bleibt mir ewig in Erinnerung – da war ich mit einem Menschen unterwegs, den ich 2025 schätzen und lieben gelernt hab‘:
Nachdem wir uns bereits im Vorjahr auf einer Archivtagung kennengelernt haben, haben und ich über das Plattensammeln, Trödel und anderes altes Zeug (wie unsere jeweiligen Schildkröten) beschlossen, die Zukunft gemeinsam zu begehen. 🐢
Ich bin dir dafür (und so vieles mehr!) unendlich dankbar – du nimmst mich, wie ich bin und bist da, wenn mein Terminkalender mal wieder zu voll ist. 🥹🫶

Templar can best be described as Swedish Heavy Metal par excellence: not only does their appearance strongly resemble the heavy metal scene of the 1980s in Sweden, but listening to their singles and EPs is likely to remind you of legendary bands such as Heavy Load and Gotham City. And best of all, Templar just announced a full-length album for early next year, so keep an eye out for them!

With the cold last days of this year laying ahead of us, it seems to be a good time to get into the mystic tales of the Norwegian Psychedelic Prog-Folk-Rockers Tusmørke:
With their discography of 15 (!) albums and their fancy songs, which remind one of stories from times long forgotten somewhere deep in the woods they are perfect for fans of bands like Wobbler, Hällas and other scandinavian retro-like-Rock.
I had the chance to witness their perfomance at Muskelrock på Tyrolen earlier this year and finally got some records cheap via their label KARISMA RECORDS. If you want to get a look behind those robes and into the saga-like-songs, check them out!

Last month the Swedes Helvetets Port played in Oslo, Norway together with an amazing lineup of Heavy Metal and Hard Rock bands - more about that hell of a night soon!

But this reminded me that I took these photos of their gig at Muskelrock på Tyrolen this year where they presented their third record „Warlords“ and as you can see, the crowd celebrated!

If you don’t know these guys and aren’t scared of their skintight pants, check out their music which probably can be seen as on-point Swedish Heavy Metal, mixed with some Manilla Road-vibes. Enjoy and see you soon!

Summer is over and so is the festival season - but this only means that now’s the perfect chance to visit club concerts and enjoy your favorite bands in an intimate atmosphere!

I personally had a really fantastic summer with lots of great live music and also relaxing vacations and can’t wait to see Wucan together with The Night Eternal in Berlin on Friday (and maybe also on Tuesday in Karlsruhe); and just stumbled upon these previously unreleased photos that I took of Wucan at their gig at Muskelrock på Tyrolen already two years ago.

Time flies and they just released a new record, called ‚Axioms‘ which you probably will like a lot if you’re a fan of their more recent stuff which is as always pretty catchy, full of Theremin- and other 70’s-vibes. See you on the road!
