At Paris Photo 2026, Jackson Fine Art will present a solo show by American photographer Joseph Szabo in the Main sector.

For more than twenty years, Joseph Szabo taught art and photography at a high school, using his camera as a way to connect with his students. His photographs offer a close view of teenage life in the 1970s and 1980s, attentive to moments of rebellion, self-invention and intimacy.
The presentation brings together a selection of Szabo’s analogue photographs, including vintage prints from the artist’s archive and several large-scale works. It coincides with the publication of « American Teen » by MACK, a new monograph dedicated to his work and edited by Sofia Coppola.

À Paris Photo 2026, Jackson Fine Art présentera un solo show du photographe américain Joseph Szabo dans le secteur Principal.

Pendant plus de vingt ans, Joseph Szabo a enseigné l’art et la photographie dans un lycée, utilisant son appareil photo comme un moyen de créer du lien avec ses élèves. Ses photographies portent un regard au plus près de l’adolescence des années 1970 et 1980, attentif aux gestes de rébellion, à la construction de soi et aux formes d’intimité.
La présentation réunit une sélection de photographies argentiques de Szabo, dont des tirages d’époque issus des archives de l’artiste et plusieurs œuvres grand format. Elle accompagne la parution de « American Teen » chez MACK, une nouvelle monographie consacrée à son travail et éditée par Sofia Coppola.

Founded in Naples in 1971, Lia Rumma Gallery has played a key role in introducing major contemporary art movements in Italy, from Arte Povera and Minimal Art to Conceptual Art. Over the decades, the gallery has developed a programme bringing together leading Italian and international artists, while maintaining close collaborations with cultural institutions.

At Paris Photo 2026, the gallery presents a group show bringing together Marina Abramović, Vanessa Beecroft and Shirin Neshat in the Main sector.

Fondée à Naples en 1971, Lia Rumma Gallery a joué un rôle majeur dans l’introduction en Italie de mouvements artistiques contemporains tels que l’Arte Povera, l’Art minimal et l’Art conceptuel. Au fil des décennies, la galerie a développé un programme réunissant des artistes italiens et internationaux majeurs, tout en entretenant des collaborations étroites avec les institutions culturelles.

Main Sector

At Paris Photo 2026, Japanese gallery MEM looks at Subjective Photography in postwar Japan through works by Kaoru Ohto, Shigeru Onishi, Gen Otsuka, Koichi Sako and Tsugio Tajima.

Initiated by German photographer Otto Steinert in 1951, Subjective Photography proposed an approach in which photographers did more than document what they saw: framing, composition and technical experimentation became integral to the construction of the image.
The movement soon developed in Japan, where the first International Subjective Photography exhibition was held in Tokyo in 1956. Bringing together five photographers associated with the movement, MEM reveals the diversity of subjects, techniques and experimental approaches that emerged around it.

À Paris Photo 2026, la galerie japonaise MEM revient sur la photographie subjective dans le Japon d’après-guerre, à travers les œuvres de Kaoru Ohto, Shigeru Onishi, Gen Otsuka, Koichi Sako et Tsugio Tajima.

Initiée en 1951 par le photographe allemand Otto Steinert, la photographie subjective défend une approche où le photographe ne se contente pas de documenter ce qu’il voit : sa manière de cadrer, de composer et d’expérimenter participe pleinement à la construction de l’image.
Le courant se développe rapidement au Japon, où une première exposition internationale lui est consacrée à Tokyo en 1956. En réunissant cinq photographes associés au mouvement, MEM en révèle la diversité des sujets, des techniques et des approches expérimentales.

[Bicentenary Focus]

◉ Paris Photo highlights selected presentations marking the Bicentenary of Photography.

At Paris Photo 2026, Galerie Jean-Francois Cazeau will dedicate its booth to Pierre Jahan, bringing together unique photograms and photomontages from the 1940s and 1950s.

Born in 1909, Pierre Jahan belonged to a generation that asserted photography as an art form in its own right. Independent of any single movement or doctrine, he approached the medium as a field of experimentation, working with photograms, rayographs, double exposures, photomontages and photocollages.
Focusing on rare works from the 1940s and 1950s, the presentation reveals a practice in which photography is not only taken, but constructed, combined and transformed.

À Paris Photo 2026, la Galerie Jean-Francois Cazeau consacrera son stand à Pierre Jahan, réunissant des photogrammes et photomontages uniques des années 1940 et 1950.

Né en 1909, Pierre Jahan appartient à une génération qui affirme la photographie comme un art à part entière. Indépendant de tout mouvement ou dogme, il fait du médium un terrain d’expérimentation, travaillant le photogramme, le rayogramme, la double exposition, le photomontage et le photocollage.
Centrée sur des œuvres rares des années 1940 et 1950, la présentation révèle une pratique où la photographie n’est pas seulement prise, mais construite, assemblée et transformée.

Emergence sector

At Paris Photo 2026, Open Doors Gallery will present «Artefacts», a solo show by Berlin-based duo wysocka magdalena & Claudio Pogo.

Working with found photographs and archival material, the duo use risograph, a Japanese stencil-printing process in which colours are printed separately, layer by layer.
Its shifts and irregularities become part of their process, transforming images removed from their original contexts. In «Artefacts» photography becomes a form of archaeology: each image is a fragment of time, collected and reassembled into an atlas without coordinates.

Secteur Emergence

À Paris Photo 2026, Open Doors Gallery présentera « Artefacts », un solo show du duo berlinois wysocka magdalena & Claudio Pogo.

À partir de photographies trouvées et de documents d’archives, le duo utilise la risographie, un procédé japonais d’impression au pochoir où les couleurs sont imprimées séparément, couche après couche. Les décalages et irrégularités participent au processus de transformation d’images sorties de leur contexte d’origine. Dans « Artefacts » la photographie devient une forme d’archéologie : chaque image est un fragment de temps, collecté puis réassemblé au sein d’un atlas sans coordonnées.

RVB Books develops contemporary photography projects with a particular focus on the relationship between form and content, from book design to materials and printing processes.

How many photographs make a book? How do paper, format or printing techniques change the way images are read? Rémi Faucheux and Matthieu Charon discuss their approach to photobooks and share a preview of what RVB Books will present in the Book Sector at Paris Photo 2026.
