The undisputed boss of the Mediterranean reef.
Silent, massive, suspiciously intelligent… and usually staring at you as if you are trespassing in her house.

The dusky grouper is a protogynous hermaphrodite: most individuals start life as females and some later become males. Slow-growing and long-lived, this magnificent predator is also particularly vulnerable to overfishing.
