Holding the complexities of life and what it means to be a woman in this world today. Such an interesting conversation I see in culture, in men and the way we engage with them. I was listening to a friend last night who said, “men have to be willing to give space, women have to be willing to take space, and then we must be willing to work together.”
I know this is generalized and there are varying factors in how this works itself out person to person, but I’ve found the essence of her statement to be pointent in my life.
We must be willing to work together.
Us against the problem - the problem is not us. I think sometimes conflict comes from two people trying to solve two different problems. We see things differently, we have different things to give and when we don’t hold space for each other, when we don’t allow ourselves to take up space, we shut ourselves off from insight, growth, collaboration — in any relationship, not just male and female, but especially so.
No one wins when either is painted as inferior.
So I’m praying we all stay curious and kind — no less honest, but willing to give and take up our space as humans with something valuable to give.
