One thing I liked about Gavin Libotte's article is that it's not really about India...it's about intention.

Before heading out each day, Gavin gave himself an assignment inspired by Alex Webb and Harry Gruyaert: look for layers, color, complexity, and human emotion.

He says, "When I am out shooting, I like to set myself a photographic assignment as if I was being paid by someone to get a job done. I know this is not true, and I am actually just making images because I love it, but committing to this idea and believing it gives me a solid intention. I am 100% involved in the activity and my senses are heightened."

Gavin used a 28mm lens converter on a Fuji X100V and got CLOSE, applying some advice he got from Julia Coddington in a workshop.

The resulting photos are brilliant.

Two constraints mark Hugo Rollin's work in his local Gwangju market: his camera, a small fixed-lens Fuji X100 series, and the language. But he's one to look on the bright side.

He says, "I like the constraint. One lens means fewer decisions. It forces me to work with distance, timing, and framing instead of trying to resolve scenes by changing equipment."

As for the language, he may be relying on eye contact and gestures for now, but he believes the market, with its many everyday interactions, is one of the best places to learn.

What I love about Kantaya is how she creates fantastic series seemingly with ease as both a street photographer (total chaos) AND a conceptual photographer (total control).

Most photographers live comfortably on one side or the other of that divide, but Kantaya feels at home with both.

Sometimes all you need is a little perspective. Doug Bruns talks about how he "zoomed out" from 28mm to 125mm, so to speak, to see that the creative life is not a constant, sometimes you have to wait for the well to refill, and the joy of photography should come from the process more than the end result.
