Just married.

I finished my second semester of my MFA today.

Halfway through.

As I figure out what summer looks like, I wanted to share two of my favorite images I made over the past few months.

As part of my thesis, I’ve been studying how the churches I grew up in used images. There’s a tension there. Images are rarely left on their own, they’re paired with scripture. The image helps explain the text, but the text also keeps the image in check.

I’ve started working within that same structure.

One uses pages from the Bible I carried when I was a pastor. The other draws from the “red words” of Jesus. Both pull from passages often used in purity culture.
