Dans les années trente et dans l’immédiate après-guerre, cette ancienne écurie transformée en salle de boxe avait reçu les plus grands noms du noble art : Carpentier et Cerdan, notamment, qui avaient conquis leurs titres salle Wagram, de l’autre côté de l’avenue Mac Mahon. En fondant en 1954, le Studio Mac Mahon dans cette enclave paisible voisine des foyers de la haute couture –le faubourg Saint-Honoré, la rue François 1er et l’avenue Montaigne-, le photographe Roland de Vassal, ami de Marc Bohan, de Louis Féraud et de Pierre Cardin, avait compris qu’il fallait privilégier l’image tout comme Daniel Filipacchi, grand reporter pour « Match », qui prit l’habitude de venir travailler au studio Mac Mahon.

« Le monde de la photo aimait cette proximité des Champs-Elysées et cultivait un véritable art de vivre, paradoxalement décontracté et perfectionniste. Toutes les grandes stars de l’époque yé-yé -Johnny, Sylvie, Jacques Dutronc, Claude François, Sheila, Françoise Hardy- ont trouvé leur première image publique dans ce studio ! C'est là que Daniel Filipacchi et Jean-Marie Périer ont enfanté des mythes… ». Le Studio Mac Mahon propose des prestations haut de gamme : conseil, lumière, production pour répondre toujours au mieux aux exigences de ses clients. Mode, communication, presse, publicité, vidéo, web… le Studio Mac Mahon est un lieu incontournable de la création photo à Paris.
