It was love at first sight✨
The moment I saw him…something deep inside just knew. The night we met, we laughed, smiled and stared endlessly. So much so, a lady came up to me while I was standing alone and said “my husband and I have been watching the two of you all evening and y’all are the most precious couple!” It was our first date, but rather than say that, I simply smiled and said “Thank you!”
I was the girl who hopelessly believed in every love story she heard and every rom-com she watched. But until that day, I had only dreamed about a love at first sight moment! In a text that day, I messaged a friend, “I know this sounds crazy, but I’m going to marry him!”
We said “I do” to each other on a snowy Dolomite mountaintop that was pure magic a year and a half later. Marriage has been our truest journey…six years of the brightest days filled with easy laughter, countless victories, shared dreams and moments so full they spill over. It’s also had many dark days too…days of loss, grief, fear, heartache, exhaustion and depression have tested every promise we made. Yet in every season, we’ve chosen each other again and again, holding tight through the lows, celebrating the highs, learning that true love isn’t the absence of struggle, but the courage to stay and keep building when it’s hard.
Last night as we celebrated six years of marriage at a little French bistro reminiscing our time in Paris…we laughed, we cried (and jokingly blamed our tears on the scented candle), we dreamed, we planned, we set goals and we spoke into what we pray our marriage continues to become.
Staring at him across the table in dimly lit candlelight, I found myself admiring him…not with the same love at first sight stare as I did years ago, but rather with a deeply chosen and unspeakable intimacy that is wholly seen and wholly loved.
That wide eyed wonder hasn’t faded…it’s just grown roots and our love is now much deeper and magical than any love at first sight🤍🥂✨
