Since 1960, the men and women of United States Strategic Command and its supporting entities have stood the watch 24/7/365 aboard LOOKING GLASS. The current aircraft is a heavily modified Boeing 707 flown and operated by United States Navy STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS WING ONE in conjunction with a United States Strategic Command Joint Battle Staff.

More photos coming for sure but I’m ecstatic about this one! When we left for Alaska and the Pacific Northwest, my notorious over packing bit me in the ass and I couldn’t bring my star tracking gear. Along with missing my gear, the weather doesn’t always cooperate so cue fear #2. Nevertheless, after a few short hikes around Mount Rainier National Park and the scouting as well as patience by Laryssa Marijka and Jeanne Marie (love you both); I was able to grab the photo of a lifetime looking across the park to the Tatoosh Range and Plummer Peak. My heart has missed shooting mountains and the Milky Way but for the first time since 2023, I can say, we made it!!

A few weeks ago I was privileged enough to go on the vacation of a lifetime! Moments that I’ll never forget! During the last 12 hours of my trip I found myself a short drive away from TA Moulton Barn near Grand Teton National Park; what Country Magazine once dubbed the most photographed barn in America. I decided to follow the footsteps of thousands of photographers before me. I shot my shots and the sheer brilliance of the skies above the Tetons didn’t disappoint.

Originally built between 1912 and 1945, the barn is one of last structures remaining from the Moulton homestead and offers a beautiful vantage that I wish everyone can see in person when visiting this beautiful and underrated national park.

Southern France Revisited

With a busy summer schedule as of late I haven’t been as focused on photography, but work trips give me time and opportunity to revisit old photos with new editing techniques to bring the results a little closer to what I had originally envisioned.

This shoot was particularly frustrating after forgetting some critical components for my star tracking gear; so there’s a bit more noise and a lot more editing in post than I’d like. But the lavenders and the night sky during the middle of summer 2022 still dazzled and I was still amazed by what I saw with my naked eye.

Shots separated by approximately 5 hours with the sun setting in the west and behind me and the Milky Way rising at about 1:30am and panoramic stitched with shots at 2, 2:30, and 3:00am.

I’ve seen the Northern Lights in a couple of places throughout my life but never did I think they’d reach into Nebraska for naked to the eye viewing. Although I didn’t have the energy to stay awake until the peak of the storm, I was able to capture this stacked shot on the way back home and love how it turned out. Pure Nebraska!

“Breck by Night”

Anyone that knows my love for the mountains knows just how much I love and specifically . This town, its shops, bars, restaurants and people are top notch. The mountain itself offers some of the best skiing in the country and I can happily say I’ve spent countless days dropping in and enjoying everything that the 5 peaks of Breck have to offer.

Disclaimer: Composite Photo- Although the base photo was taken on the evening of a full moon, I imported the moon from an older photo (since I missed my 2am alarm) and placed it where it would have been based on lunar data.

Downtime is great for new techniques and revisiting old shots.

Originally taken in November 2021 this was one of my first Milky Way shots in Europe standing at the edge of an irrigation pond of an Austrian Ski Resort after about a 3,000 ft vertical hike.

The clarity of the night sky without any light pollution was absolutely mind blowing.

“Tilting Up Titlis”

“Enveloped Peaks”

A throwback to one of 2 ski trips in Switzerland this previous winter. It was getting dark and cold; however, with the cloud cover sinking through and enveloping the mountain peaks, I knew I needed to reset my gear for one last shot. made for an enticing mountain formation that was just begging to be photographed this late afternoon before ski patrol began clearing the high alpine terrain.

While it may not be throwback Thursday; I didn’t have my camera to capture todays brilliant sunset so this will have to do.

Captured in Greece prior to their summer of devastating wildfires; this sunset is emblematic of peace, tranquility and a sea of wonders off the coast of .

Complimenting the clearest waters I’ve ever seen in my life, the sunsets along Corfu stretched for hours and created amazing evenings that provided for a lifetime of memories.
