It is a great honour to announce that His Majesty The King is Royal Patron of the Normandy Memorial Trust.

The Trust’s Chairman General Lord Richard Dannatt said:

“This is marvellous news as we move towards 6 June and the 80th anniversary commemorations of D Day.

For the Trust to have His Majesty the King as our Royal Patron underlines both the importance of our remembrance and His Majesty’s personal commitment to the work of the Trust which began when, as Prince of Wales, he became our Patron.

We are very much looking forward, health permitting, to welcoming His Majesty to the British Normandy Memorial on 6 June.”

Four weeks today, the world will mark the 80th anniversary of D-Day.

Alongside the many servicemen named on the Memorial, we will remember Sisters Dorothy 'Anyta' Field and Mollie Evershed. They lost their lives while saving 75 men from drowning when Hospital Carrier Amsterdam hit a mine off Juno Beach on 7 August 1944.

We are on a quest to find the relatives of those men who were saved, and who may be able to share more information and insight into what happened.
