Sometimes, all you need is each other (plus a registrar, two witnesses, and ideally also me). When you look at each other like THIS, what more is there to add?

T&N got married in an intimate Marischal College ceremony with just two close friends there to witness it.

After the ceremony, their parents and four children joined us for photos.

I do believe even the tiniest weddings deserve good photos.

"What's that, Sarah?" I hear you ask. "You do family photo shoots, too?"

YES, I DO.

I'm rubbish about promoting them, but every so often, families I've photographed before come back to me for a second or a third or a fourth time, and I remember. 😅

It was two years since I had seen this family, and it was lovely to catch up with them, recreate some photos from their previous session, and discover all the new things their kid can do (like take these couple photos of her mum and dad using my big camera!).

If YOU would like some family photos, I have a wee bit of availability for Aberdeen sessions over the summer holidays, and I'd love to meet you all. 🥰

I've just spent two hours helping a tired child make a Canva presentation about koalas and, honestly, I've only got enough brainpower left to b**g up a single photo and suggest that you book me as your wedding photographer.

Why this photo? Because my last five bookings have all been for Duthie Park ceremonies, and the only thing that could make this better is if they were followed by at least five more.

It's warm. The flowers are out. My inbox tells me it's wedding planning time for lots of couples. So here I am, showing up for the algorithm with a flowery wedding photo from last summer, hoping to find my way to all the cool, creative couples searching for their dream Aberdeen wedding photographer (me).

I showed you the sweet shots... and now I'm showing you the silliness.

We pulled this photo session together as part of 's video editing course; it was a bunch of friends (including a couple) mucking around in a pretty place. And we laughed HARD.

But this is what I want ALL of my couples' photo sessions to feel like: a bunch of friends mucking around; lots of laughter; and some super-sweet photos at the end of it.

Don't tell my cynical teenage self, but, yes, sometimes I DO cry, editing my couples' wedding photos. 🥹

It's the unguarded joy on their faces while they say their vows and the little moments of giggly eye contact while their witnesses sign the register which do it for me.

This wild leap of faith, it's a beautiful thing, and I never take for granted how often I get to watch it.

Sometimes - SOMETIMES - we get a sunny day for a Marischal College wedding, and I get to chuck all the camera exposure rules out the window* and make a photo which glows.

TBH, this couple would have been glowing regardless, and I'll show you a few more photos from their teeny-tiny "just us and our witnesses" wedding soon. 🥰

*not THIS window; my insurance wouldn't cover me intentionally chucking anything through ancient stained glass

Not the photo I was planning to post today, but and I have just been riding through our DM chat on our bluebell high horses, so here we are.

Did you know... it is illegal to uproot a wildflower plant in Scotland?

Did you know... if you pick or trample on a bluebell, it can take 5-7 years for it to flower again?

If you're out admiring the bluebells - and they are looking particularly lovely this year - please, please, please stick to the existing paths.

You can still take a photo like THIS one which obscures the path for artistic effect without causing harm to any plants.

There are specific protections in place for bluebells because they're so easily damaged but, in general, if something is beautiful enough to photograph, be gentle with it and leave it for others to enjoy.
