The McGrigor Memorial Obelisk a striking 70-foot (21-meter) monument made of pink Peterhead granite located in Duthie Park.
It honors: Sir James McGrigor (1771–1858), a military surgeon and Director-General of the Army Medical Department often called the father of modern military medicine.

They often mimic bees or wasps with yellow and black stripes on their abdomens, but they are completely harmless and cannot sting.
