NEWBORN SESSION GUIDE | ABERDEENSHIRE
If youβre expecting your little one, you might be wonderingβ¦
What do we bring? What do they wear? What if baby cries the whole time?
Donβt worry. Your newborn session is designed to be calm, relaxed and completely baby led. You donβt need to know what youβre doing, and you definitely donβt need to have a perfectly settled baby!
WHEN SHOULD I BOOK?
I recommend getting in touch during pregnancy and booking for your estimated due month. Your actual session date is arranged once baby arrives, so thereβs no need to worry if they decide to come early or fashionably late!
Ideally, newborn sessions take place within the first couple of weeks, when babies are still very sleepy and curled up, but every baby is different and we can still create beautiful photographs beyond this point.
WHAT SHOULD YOU BRING?
Honestly⦠not much!
β’ Plenty of nappies
β’ Baby wipes
β’ A dummy, only if you already use one
β’ A couple of feeds
β’ Any special blanket or sentimental item you'd like included
β’ A spare outfit for yourselves.... just in case!
I have a selection of beautiful newborn wraps, outfits, blankets in the studio, so you don't need to arrive with a suitcase full of baby clothes.
HOW SHOULD WE PREPARE BABY?
Try to keep baby awake for a little while before you leave, if possible, and give them a nice full feed shortly before the session.
But please don't stress if none of that happens!
If they're hungry, we feed them.
If they need changed, we change them.
If they need cuddles, we cuddle them.
If they need a little break, we take one.
There is absolutely no rushing.
..... AND WHAT ABOUT YOU?
Come as you are.
You don't need to have everything organised perfectly. You don't need to arrive looking like you've had 8 hours sleep. And you certainly don't need to worry about whether your baby will stay calm.
You've just had a baby. Be kind to yourself and enjoy this little bubble.
My studio is warm, cosy and set up specifically for newborn sessions, and I will guide you through everything from start to finish.
