πŸ‹ A beautiful Minke Whale Feeding in the Moray Firth.

This week is Minke galore along the Moray Firth Coastline! They're everywhere.
Today we watched four of them off Cullen & Portknockie and later off Sandend & Portsoy.

There were also sightings of them off Whitehills and back West between Burghead and Cromarty areas!

Unfortunately, my luck for filming them wasn't quite as good but I did manage this shot!

Also, I'm now as red as a lobster after being in the sun! πŸ˜‚πŸ¦ž

Enjoy the video & don't forget to follow for more of my Wildlife Encounters! πŸ™πŸ˜Ž

πŸ¬πŸ‹ Minke, Dolphins, nearly an Orca and an epic sunset! Yesterday was an awesome day! 🀩🏴󠁧󠁒󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Here's a teaser of some of my filming. 🐝😊

After heading to Portgordon to see some Bottlenose Dolphins, an alert came in for a lone Bull Orca further along the coast at Rosehearty!

I was on the move and ended up at Cullykhan bay to try and get ahead of it. Unfortunately it turned around and went back out to sea! Missed it! 😫

But, while at Cullykhan Bay, I saw my first Minke of the year and then on my way home, a second one off Whitehills! πŸ€©πŸ‹

As a bonus, the Sunset was just incredible! I had to take a moment to stop and enjoy it too! πŸŒ…

πŸ™Œ A big thank you to everyone who helped with the sightings yesterday and πŸ‘‹ hello to anyone i spoke to! It was lovely meeting some more of our spotting crowd. 😁

Enjoy the video & don't forget to follow for more of my Wildlife Encounters! πŸ™πŸ˜Ž

🌷 You can keep your Whales! 🐝 Bee's falling out of flowers might be my new favourite thing to film! πŸ˜‚

Apparently; when foraging bees consume nectar or fruit sap that has fermented in the heat, yeast produces ethanol, resulting in intoxication! πŸ₯΄

Intoxicated bees fly erratically, lose their bearings, and may even fall to the ground. πŸ€•

Because a disoriented bee endangers the colony, "guard bees" patrol the hive entrance to act as bouncers. They taste incoming nectar to check for alcohol, and will block, expel, or even attack heavily inebriated bees to keep the hive safe. 🍯

So there you go! Fumbling Bumbling Bees! 🐝🌷

🐬 Dolphins Surfing! πŸ™ˆ Nothing fancy from a filming point of view! But it's the first time I've witnessed Dolphins cruising in on waves; It appeared to be no more than just a bit of fun! 🌊

I know they do it; I've just never seen it myself before. Very cool! 😎

They were coming in on a wave, then diving back underneath and swimming back out to catch the next one! 😎

Unfortunately it was almost impossible to track them in the swell so this video is all i managed.
Still worth posting i think! πŸ™ŒπŸ€©

🐬 I've spent a little time at Spey Bay & Kingston this past couple of weeks, hoping for some good sightings but most visits have been unfruitful; until this one! 🀩

I did my usual, got out the van and had a quick look up and down the bay.
Straight away...Bottlenose Dolphins feeding unbelievable close to shore, but they were moving quickly!

I grabbed my gear and after a quick sprint down the shore, i caught up with them!

There were 5 or 6 including a hugely energetic calf who was just adorable to watch! 😊

After a short period of filming, I let them carry on their dinner chasing in peace. 🐬😊

Enjoy the video & don't forget to πŸ™ follow for more wildlife encounters!

πŸ”₯ DRONE VIDEO: 10.06.2026 Scottish Fire & Rescue Service on scene today tackling a large fire. The fire broke out earlier today at a Potato Farm next to Easter Airfield, Fearn.

The fire is burning, but under control and there's been no report of any injuries. πŸ™

Well done to all involved at tackling the blaze. πŸ™Œ

πŸŽ₯ I'm an experienced, certified and insured pilot and a big advocate for safe and responsible drone use.
✈️ Given the location of this fire; I carried out checks with ATC & Tain Range and also spoke with Scottish Fire Service before flying.
🐝 These shots utilise the drones multiple cameras to zoom in. The drone was not near or over the scene at any point.

🐬 Dolphins; and a practical demonstration of how I can film close ups, whilst keeping a responsible distance. πŸ™ƒ

I use the DJI Mavic 4 Pro's triple camera system. πŸ“·πŸ“·πŸ“·

Main Camera; Normal 28mm.
Medium Tele Camera; 2.5x Zoom/70mm.
Tele Camera; 6x Zoom/168mm.

You'll see each of those used in the video, but that's just the start!
I can also use the drones digital Zoom, all the way to 24x!
That means I could get even closer shots, or the same shots from further away! 🀩

It's a cracking example of advances in technology helping to get great footage without disturbing wildlife.

Whilst the footage i capture is lovely to watch; it can also be used by researchers. Cetaceans can be ID'd, checked for entanglements/injury and locations noted to help us understand population movements.

It all helps towards conservation efforts and protection of our seas 🌊 πŸ™

If you're new to drones and plan to film any wildlife, please do learn the guidelines, available on websites such as NatureScot and Natural England.

πŸ‹ The 23rd May 2026; a day that will be hard to forget after an absolutely, epic encounter with a Humpback Whale in the Moray Firth. 🏴󠁧󠁒󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

The Whale originally appeared at Chanonry Point on the 22nd, heading in past Inverness and deep into the Beauly Firth.
It didn't look at it's healthiest and there was certainly concern for it being so far in.
Several hours later, it made it's way back out, under the Kessock Bridge, and we lost sight of it that evening.

THEN...The very next day it was seen again, this time near Cullen!

We kitted up and made our way along the coast, catching up with the Whale at Whitehills in Aberdeenshire.

This video is the best of what I captured as it made it's way along to Fraserburgh. Hugging the Coastline, often just metres from the rocks! What a spectacle! 😍

A truly memorable experience for myself, Justyna and the dozens of excited people that turned out to see this beautiful cetacean; many of which can be seen on shore, in this video, as the Whale passes!

I believe he has since been seen off Northumberland. Where he'll turn up next is anyone's guess?! πŸ™ƒ

The whales physical appearance has been noted as being a mixture of old scars from entanglements with possible fungal growth or severe lice.
It's unsure how this may be affecting him, but he is certainly still a very strong swimmer. Let's hope he has many more years left in him yet! πŸ‹

A big shout out to all those who reported the sightings and the charity organisations that work to monitor our seas and sealife. πŸ™Œ

Enjoy the video & don't forget to πŸ™ follow for more wildlife encounters!
