A walk through the magnificent Blair Castle woods yesterday (well worth a visit if you haven’t been!) had me chatting about how to capture the sheer scale of these towering trees with just a phone.

The trick is simple: use a vertical panoramic shot and include something in the frame to give a sense of scale. In these photos, my walking companions were the perfect reference point against the giants of the forest 🌲📸

The grass seed captured in the water droplets was taken super close up but it doesn't always have to be like that - the porcelain mushroom was about 15 feet up a beech tree (it only grows on beech trees) so I had to deploy the tripod and telephoto lens to get the shot - ended up with lovely bokeh as a result from the leaves with the sun shining through in the background 😃

When I run courses in Glen Lyon, I often stop at the Glen Lyon Post Office and Tea Room in Bridge of Balgie with my clients to pick up some refreshments! If you're passing that way, it's definitely worth pausing and popping in ☕️🍰🥪...and if you didn't know about it, why not make a special journey through Scotland's Longest, Loneliest and Loveliest Glen to go out for lunch or a cup of tea in truly special surroundings?

Combining two of my passions - videography and beekeeping! It's best watched with your sound on - Who knew that bees were such inefficient pilots...maybe they should book to come on my drone flying course 😄

I can never resist daisies at this time of year - great for practicing your macro skills but it's best to pick a day that's not too windy!
