Incredibly honoured to have my photograph be used for the cover of a forthcoming live album release by our hero

Never expected that to happen. All the recordings were originally released as live sessions. All 12 or so shot over 2 days. They said it couldn’t be done but look at us now baby!

The series that followed was one of the most complimented pieces I’ve been involved with. It seemed to really connect with people which is what it’s all about.

My favourite shot from this trip is still to come out and one day will be released. The plot thickens.

Some stills and selfie from one of the most picturesque studios I’ve ever shot in.

From February this year in the mountains of Utah I was very fortunate to spend 5 nights in this place. Part of an ongoing project to see light down the line.

The last project I posted here was for the music video. One of the greatest decisions I made on a purely life enjoyment level was to spend the filthy monies on doing the shoot over two days.

It meant we had a night together in the most glorious location to get a few shots but also to stop, eat dinner outside and drink some wine.

Jack from the band and I were talking and looking into each other’s eyes. We were talking about various things that has lead us to each other. How he worked on various tours and different bands he had been in. The heavenly came up in conversation and I spoke about many tours I did on their New Faces shows. Basically they were short tours where 4 new artists went on the road together. I think headliners may have alternated each night. I would join the tour and make a mini-doc about each artist. Making 4 short films that promoted the artist and the tour.

Remarkably Jack said he had been on a New Faces tour. We laughed about the fact we had such a similar background and then the laughing stopped. Everyone fell silent. I looked at Jack through the flames and I asked him to reveal his true self to me.

“What is your surname Jack?”

All I could hear was the lake and the crackling of the burning wood.

“Watts. Jack Watts.”

It was then we realised that all those years ago Jack had been so blown away by a film I had made for him that he completely forgot it had ever happened and that I had been so touched by his music that I had forgotten I had spent a day filming him and interviewing him. Hard to describe how that felt but it was like being reborn or looking at yourself lying in a coffin but being given a second chance 😂

Anyway. Lots of things happening but no pictures that I can show so it was a thrill to get these ones from .wilkinson.photo I asked him about these shots months ago and he said none came out that were useable. Why are Northern Men so hard on themselves? Blown away as usual. Thanks Pete

This is an almost oil painting style capture of producer and I working out the first shot of the day. I have a nice pair or green bloomers on.

My fondest memory of Dan is from a music video we made together years ago in his bedroom. It involved a middle aged actor in a fictional record shop (Dans bedroom) looking through a rack of the same vinyl. He sees someone doing the same and then starts “making out” with them. 2 men and 2 women. The actor had a big smile on his face however one of the other other actors brought a bottle of whiskey with him. I can’t recall what happened but some of the female actors got bad vibes and I asked Dan to ask him to leave with my toes bursting out of my shoes.

Not sure what was said but I never saw the whiskey man again.

On this job, I was preparing a pesto lasagna the night before but we needed mint. Dan went out to buy some. An hour later he came back but forgot the mint but by coincidence has bought some mint tea.
