After the eclipse. 🌅

With the partial solar eclipse finished, the evening continued to give us another show over the Anglesey coast.

The setting sun breaking through the cloud, St Cwyfan Church silhouetted on its tiny tidal island, and the last light reflected across the water.

UNDER A PERSEID SKY ✨🌌☄️

A Perseid burns through the Milky Way above St Cwyfan's Church, captured during last night’s meteor shower peak.

One exposure. One frame. One very lucky moment.

Buck moon over Dunstanburgh Castle 🌕🏰

Yesterday's Full Moon stayed hidden behind cloud. Tonight with a 98.4% moon and a promising forecast of clear skies, I had another chance.

The horizon however, had other ideas, 👀 hiding the moment I'd hoped for. But as the Moon climbed above Lilburn Tower, it was a reminder that nature rarely follows the script and that we just have to work with it.

A Shared Horizon

As the crescent Moon sank towards the western horizon, it paused beside Durham Cathedral for one final moment before disappearing from the evening sky.

The cathedral has watched over Durham for almost a thousand years. The Moon has followed this same journey for billions.

For a fleeting moment, they shared the same skyline.

Long Eared Owls

For most of the day, long-eared owls disappear into the landscape.

Hidden in dense trees, almost impossible to spot.
But as the light begins to fade, they emerge silently over the fields to hunt. No warning calls. No sound from the wings. Just a sudden shape moving through the evening air.

Perfectly adapted for low-light hunting, their specialised feathers break up turbulence and allow them to fly in near total silence — often hearing prey before the prey ever knows they’re there.
