Talented young journalist Magda Markiewicz recently interviewed Rob SnappyAds and I for her "Media Spotlight" series of films about our backgrounds, businesses, passions and niche specialisms. It was tremendous fun to contribute to her project - she's a great interviewer and picked up film-making like she was born to it!

The first episode here focusses on how and why I launched Macreavy Media, and features dozens of short clips from the hugely varied film projects from our business's first couple of years. Next time: "What Do You Mean, 'Tape Baking'?"

Two weeks ago, Rob SnappyAds and I had the pleasure of working with home care charity Vincentian Care Plus in Victoria, for our third commission with them. The team's script was an off-piste, fun and very different approach... We hope we hit the mark!

We've never worked with a more passionate and compassionate group of people. Immense fun.

This was a lovely surprise to drop through the letterbox. We baked and transferred this weird and wonderful film soundtrack master tape months ago, and as if by magic, it's a vinyl album and CD. Cool poster, too.

Rupert Hine was an electronics whizz, but better known as producer of top acts (including Rush, Tina Turner and Howard Jones), AND lead singer on Quantum Jump's Lone Ranger!

Even though the theme tune (written and recorded by Genesis) didn't get over the licensing hurdles, this is a cracker. Thank you Alan Gubby for this wonderful project!

A new batch of tapes came today for baking and restoring from the son of the late, renowned electronic composer Rolf Gehlhaar. A little bonus in the package: our last tape project is now out on vinyl! Which was nice. 😉

When two lovely chaps turn up at your house, armed with four *top secret* studio tapes by their hero. They'd spent hundreds in an auction. One of these gents had flown in from Denmark! 😲

What an UTTERLY JOYOUS morning it was. God bless collectors of music rarer than hen's teeth, tape, ovens and electro-magnetism! ☺️🙏

We had some wonderful news this week. The innovative chair-based exercise programme for older people "Healthy4Longer" which we filmed in partnership with care charity in London, has been awarded the "High Commendation" at the National Home Care Awards! We've just completed the baking, restoring and digitising of five incredible tapes for LEO Récords, the original masters for two albums recorded in Russia in the mid-to-late 1980s. No one has played these tapes for 40 years.

The band, Arkhangelsk (Архангельск)were an experimental "Free Jazz" sextet, and these amazing recordings have been perfectly preserved, and hopefully to be re-released soon on CD and/or vinyl. It's such an honour to work on precious artefacts like this. Here's a brief taster:

Morning everyone. Rob at OrFactor Productions and I have just come back from two days filming in a very pretty corner of Essex, near Maldon. We were working with master craftsman Kitchens, interviewing three of his customers in their stunning homes.

One of them, apart from being the proud owner of a stunning kitchen himself, is a member of a "rival" Beach Boys tribute band! Small world, eh?
