The overlooked ones ๐ฟ
Spotted during an evening wander around Loch Etive with The Valenti View this little visitor turned out to be a caddisfly.
They might not get the attention of dragonflies or butterflies, but caddisflies have a pretty impressive story. As larvae, many species live underwater and build protective cases from tiny stones, sand, twigs and other materials they find around them. Some are so well camouflaged you'd never know they were there.
This adult was resting quietly amongst the reeds as the light faded over the loch. A tiny creature, but another reminder that there's a whole world of wildlife hiding in plain sight if you're willing to slow down and look a little closer.
