Some insects from home and close to home.

Migration is underway. Lovely to see Spotted Flycatchers and Redstart today. I couldn't resist the wee Small Copper Butterfly.

Seen at the Rhynd Lochs, Blackford.

The butterfly was taken at about 14 feet as that is the limit of the only lens I had with me.

I spent several hours on a very dull and wet morning last Friday with good pals at the Aviemore Osprey Hide.

It is late in the season so whilst we had several birds overhead, only one dived in front of the hide.

Lovely morning at Aberlady yesterday. This Red-footed Falcon ia a rare visitor from Eastern Europe/Africa and has been here for several days.

I was really pleased to see that all of the photographers and twitchers maintained a very respectful distance, allowing the bird to hunt for insects for over an hour.
