Why do I love photographing breakfast?

Because it’s not really about breakfast.

It’s the pyjamas, the crumbs, the sleepy cuddles, the child wandering off halfway through to play, the dog under the table and the coffee that nobody quite finishes.

It’s one of those completely ordinary parts of family life that doesn’t feel remotely important while you’re living it, but might mean everything to you later.

I’ve written a whole blog post about why I love photographing mornings which I haven’t got around to posting yet..

But in the meantime, I’m looking for a family whose breakfast (at home, in the garden, or out and about picnic-style) I can photograph in the next week or so for Summer Stories 2026.

Not because every day was magical.

But because of the little things that quietly became this summer. The evidence of your kids being exactly this age.

The place you kept going back to.
The little routines that nobody planned.
The games in the garden that carried on until long after bedtime.
The laugh you could pick out anywhere.

The bits that felt ordinary while you were living them.

That’s what Summer Stories family photo sessions are all about - capturing your family as you really are, in the places and moments that mean something to *you*.

I’m looking for more families to be part of the Summer Stories throughout August and September, and there are still some complimentary and reduced-rate places available for stories that particularly fit what I’m creating.

SUMMER STORIES 2026 - APPLICATIONS ARE NOW OPEN ☀️

I’ve been working away on something new, to see out this beautiful summer.

Summer Stories is a series of story-led family photography sessions about the things that make your family’s summer uniquely yours.

Not perfect outfits. Not everyone looking at the camera.

The little rituals, places and traditions you’ll miss one day without even realising it.

Slow breakfasts with the doors open.
Bare feet in the garden.
Days at the beach.
Swimming in the sea.
Children disappearing into fields and coming back grubby.
Long lunches outside.
That place in France you return to every summer.
Grandparents, cousins, dogs, boats, farms, gardens, holidays - whatever summer looks like in your family.

I’m looking for a really varied collection of families and stories to photograph in Kent, London and further afield across the UK (and abroad too!).

Some sessions will be complimentary or offered at a significantly reduced rate, depending on the story/location and what I’d particularly love to photograph for the project.

All 12 participating families will have a place in the 2026 Summer Stories journal magazine, with a gifted copy to keep.

And because I’m itching to get started…

I’m especially looking for families who could be photographed THIS WEEKEND - that’s Saturday 15th or Sunday 16th August ☀️

(Further sessions will run, up to mid-September).
